Job Description:

As a Lead Commissioning Manager, you are responsible for the successful implementation of commissioning processes and systems within the construction project, from planning, witnessing management and execution to quality assurance and client satisfaction. Your advanced technical expertise, and strategic vision are essential for delivering high-quality outcomes that meet project objectives and exceed client expectations.

You will lead on strategic and tactical building services commissioning management support to the project team for the engineering process of a project from conception to completion primarily on Major Projects. Our focus is on teamwork our philosophy is to be part of the solution, not the problem. We focus on quality in all aspects of commissioning management – planning, programming, reporting, collaborative working, witnessing, and handing over to the FM teams.

  • Strategic Planning:

Responsible for developing comprehensive strategic commissioning playbook and schedules for commissioning activities, tailored to each project’s unique specifications, timelines, and objectives. You work closely with project stakeholders to understand requirements to develop and manage a roadmap for commissioning execution.

  • Team Leadership and Management:

Lead and manage the commissioning activities of the project. You provide guidance, mentorship, and coordinate all the different stakeholders to ensure they perform their duties effectively and efficiently. This includes driving the stakeholders, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and managing the resolution of any issues that may arise during the commissioning process.

  • Resource Allocation:

You are tasked to ensure that all stakeholders are allocating resources such as personnel, equipment, and materials to various commissioning activities based on project needs and priorities.

  • Quality Assurance:

Implent robust quality assurance processes to ensure that all commissioning activities and gateways meet client expectations, contractual obligations, specifications, industry standards and regulatory requirements. You track, oversee, and witness the execution of tests, inspections, and verifications to verify the functionality and performance of systems and equipment.

  • Risk Management:

Identify and track the potential risks and challenges that may impact the commissioning process and develop mitigation strategies to address them effectively.

  • Health & Safety Compliance:

Ensure that you always follow Sygna's Health & Safety systems and local project requirements. Ensure that you maintain relevant health and safety records to meet regulatory standards and company policies.

  • Client Communication:

Interact with clients during the project lifecycle. You provide updates on project progress, planned vs achieved, address any concerns or issues, and ensure client satisfaction with the commissioning outcomes.

  • Technical Expertise:

Leverage your technical expertise and knowledge of commissioning methodologies and engineering to troubleshoot complex issues, resolve conflicts, and optimise system performance. From design to post-handover, you collaborate with contractors, engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to identify and implement solutions that enhance the functionality and efficiency of systems and equipment.

  • Documentation and Reporting:

Track all commissioning activities to ensure that comprehensive documentation is maintained throughout the project lifecycle. This includes developing test procedures, generating reports, and maintaining compliance records to provide a clear audit trail of the commissioning process.

Key Outline Duties:

The list below is not exhaustive and therefore not limited to the below:

  • Responsibility for ensuring that all sharepoint folders and documentation are being utilised and managed properly in line with the divisions standards and protocols. Inclusive of naming convention and folders being superseded and saved in the correct place with proper templates being used.

  • Provide technical insight during commissioning meetings, leading meetings and managing other Sygna employees input into the meetings focusing on development of others.

  • Engage on-site to address design issues and input into commissioning design reviews.

  • Review and validate technical documentation to ensure accuracy and project alignment inclusive of producing and managing the project specific commissionability review

  • Develop commissioning scripts to meet project requiments.

  • Update and maintain progress on delivery tracker to ensure timely reporting and manage other employees input to ensure continuity.

  • Create and deliver Commissioning Plan

  • Create and deliver Commissioning Programmme

  • Create, maintain and report against the Commissioning Tracker (utilising PowerBI) managing other Sygna employees input to ensure continuity.

  • Review and approve Commissioning Method Statements prior to the commissioning phase

  • Review and assist contractors / sub-contractors in the development of all project-related QA/QC documentation, providing technical input to the formal change control processes

  • Plan for witnessing activities utilising Look Ahead documents and meetings

  • Witness MEPH system to ensure conformity against design and industry standards

  • Monitor and report against the outcome of witnessing activities

  • Execute and manage the Level 4 & 5 testing

  • Manage and coordinate Client Training on commissioned systems

  • Review and comment on the O&Ms with regards to commissioning information

  • Create and issue the final Commissioning Closeout Report

  • Manage the delivery of commissioning elements for sustainability accreditation (BREEAM, WELL, LEED, NABORS)

  • Understand and execute full project deliverables whilst communicating to other Sygna employees.

  • Co-ordination of relevant site team members (M or E).

  • Interact with client team and attend client meetings where applicable

  • Ensure that any project changes are captured and communicated to Principal Commissioning Manager and Divisional Director.

  • Ensure that Client feedback for any projects being lead is of a high standard

  • Input into Technical review of any RFP documents for bidding

  • Manage any visiting Sygna employees ensure their input to the project is in line with the divisions protocols
