Graphic Designer
Purpose of the role
As our Graphic Designer, you'll be a key part of Origin's exciting new creative team. Reporting into the Head of Brand, you’ll be the creative force driving Origin’s visual output. You’ll work hands-on to execute beautiful design and partner with the wider brand team to lead thinking around how our brand shows up in the world. Whether it’s shaping new creative ideas or leading and mentoring our Creative Artworker, your work will be strategic, imaginative, and grounded in craft.
What You’ll Do
Creative Direction & Brand Stewardship
- Support the Head of Brand in delivering the visual identity of the Origin brand, ensuring it remains fresh, distinctive, and aligned with our values.
- Lead the design direction for campaigns, from seasonal coffee launches to brand moments, internal initiatives, and sustainability storytelling.
- Translate strategic marketing goals into powerful creative outputs across a variety of formats and audiences.
- Ensure all design work contributes to a cohesive, premium brand experience, whether it's seen online, in-store, or on our packaging.
Design Craft & Execution
- Design high-impact visuals across print and digital platforms, including:
- Packaging (e.g. coffee labels, limited editions, gift sets)
- Retail environments (e.g. signage, menus, POS, windows)
- Digital communications (e.g. paid ads, organic social, email templates, web visuals)
- Brand materials (e.g. investor decks, B2B brochures, internal guides)
- Create production-ready artwork for print with attention to detail, colour accuracy, and typography.
- Collaborate with photographers, illustrators, and motion designers, briefing and art directing external partners to achieve high-quality outputs.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Line manage and mentor the Creative Artworker, providing feedback, inspiration, and structure to help them grow.
- Collaborate with all business departments to ensure creative work supports wider business goals.
- Partner with our creative agency to ensure design consistency and cohesion across projects.
- Take an active role in creative reviews, brand planning, and campaign meetings—bringing ideas and leadership to the table.
Innovation, Research & Brand Exploration
- Stay curious about design trends, tools, and techniques , bringing a culture of experimentation and learning to the team.
- Conduct regular competitive benchmarking, within coffee and beyond—to ensure Origin remains creatively ahead.
- Identify and explore opportunities to expand our brand world—through illustration, motion, layout systems, or even tactile print treatments.
Project & Process Management
- Constantly look to improve the design team’s practices and processes to optimise ways of working with other teams.
- Work independently and collaboratively to manage multiple design projects from brief to delivery.
- Balance conceptual development with execution, making sure deadlines are met without compromising on creativity or quality.
- Maintain and evolve brand guidelines, making them accessible and useful for internal and external partners.
What You’ll Bring
Skills and Behaviours
- Line management experience, with a background in mentoring more junior members of the team.
- A collaborative and confident communicator who can work across teams and is also confident to manage upwards.
- Strong conceptual and craft skills across brand identity, editorial, packaging, and digital.
- Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop); Figma and motion/After Effects a plus.
- Experience designing for both print and digital mediums (ideally in a lifestyle, F&B, or DTC setting).
- Excellent typography, composition, and layout skills.
- A strategic thinker who can connect visual design to brand positioning and commercial goals.
- Calm under pressure, with strong project management and attention to detail.
