Accountable to Dr Elika Kashef (CD), Dr Neeral Patel (Trauma Radiology Co-Lead), Dr Neil Rane (Trauma Radiology Co-Lead).

The post will run for a fixed term of 12 months duration.

Background:

A fixed term contract post is available for a Trust Grade Fellow in Trauma Imaging in the Department of Radiology at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

The applicant should be able to start August 2025

This post has arisen due to the increased demands on imaging from the Major Trauma Centre at St Mary's Hospital.

The Department is based on 3 sites in West London (Hammersmith Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital) and offers a wide exposure to all aspects of Trauma Imaging.

Candidates will also have exposure to general radiology with tertiary level cases in all fields of radiology.

Main duties of the job
• Trauma radiology reporting across all imaging modalities.
• Participation in the trauma MDT.
• On call working as part of our senior fellow rota (~1:6). This would be to support the first on junior radiology registrars. Services include tertiary level multi-modality imaging in hyperacute stroke and neurosurgery, vascular imaging (including for renal and pancreatic transplant assessment), Level 1 major trauma, and all areas of general radiology.
• Candidates will also have the opportunity to be involved with in house quality improvement/governance projects.
• Research opportunities are available in numerous areas of cutting edge clinical radiology.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The fellow will initially be under the direct supervision of a consultant but will have a more autonomous role as he/she gains experience. The post-holder will also have the opportunity to gain further training in a subspecialty of their choice, for example in musculoskeletal radiology and neuroradiology.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • On GMC register/ licensed Medical Practitioner
Desirable criteria
  • Post graduate degrees (BSc, MD, PhD etc)
Academic achievements including research/publications

Desirable criteria
  • Publications in peer reviewed journals
  • Presentations at national or international meetings
Higher Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • FRCR or equivalent
Clinical skills

Essential criteria
  • General radiology: independent reporting of on call work, CT and Ultrasound and emergency MRI
Desirable criteria
  • Independent preliminary trauma scan reporting in a major trauma centre
Audit

Essential criteria
  • Experience of participating in clinical audits
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of clinical audit
Relevant experience in specialty/Sub specialty

Essential criteria
  • Experience in wide range of imaging modalities and specialties
  • Pre-CCT training in trauma imaging.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a major trauma centre.
Language

  • English fluency
