Football Coach
Hours: 20 hours per week, worked flexibly across the year
Emanuel School is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Football Coach to play an important role in the continued development of its ambitious football programme.
Football is a key part of sport at Emanuel, and the school is committed to providing pupils with high-quality coaching, competitive opportunities and clear pathways for individual development. Working closely with the Director of Football and Director of Sport, you will deliver engaging and progressive coaching across training sessions, games afternoons and fixtures, helping players and teams achieve their potential.
You will also work with high-potential and high-aspiration players through individual and small-group development, providing technical feedback and making effective use of video analysis and other performance tools. Alongside the football programme, you will contribute to the wider sporting life of the school, including supporting other sports and Saturday fixtures where required.
About you
You will bring significant experience of coaching youth football, together with a strong understanding of player development and the ability to plan and deliver high-quality sessions for players with differing levels of ability. A UEFA C coaching qualification is essential, with UEFA B or an international equivalent desirable.
You will be an engaging and inclusive coach who can inspire young players, provide constructive technical feedback and build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues. You should also be organised, flexible and comfortable working collaboratively as part of a wider sports team.
Experience of coaching another performance sport offered at Emanuel, such as hockey, tennis or cricket, would be advantageous. For the right candidate, there may also be an opportunity to train as a teacher in future years.
Working at Emanuel
There is a genuine buzz at the school. Colleagues enjoy their work and, like the pupils, are ambitious for the school.
Everyone works hard here, and anyone joining the school should expect to do so. There’s a strong sense of community and source of friendship. From the briefing to all staff, to the half termly staff meetings, termly consultative group meetings and a common room committee, there’s ongoing dialogue about the school’s aims. Colleagues nominate their peers for termly ACE awards to acknowledge those who best embody the school’s values and a whole staff wellbeing day ensures a collegiate and supportive environment between support and teaching staff.
We aim to look after our staff too. We have an appraisal scheme with a focus on the employee’s professional development; we sponsor postgraduate courses and a range of training opportunities; we offer a healthcare plan via Simply Health that includes counselling and medical support; and we’re committed to supporting staff wellbeing. On a more practical level, all staff benefit from good pension provision and free lunches.
