Deputy Head of HR
Central London Up to GBP65,000 Up to 12 Months 50/50 Hybrid Working ASAP Start
MLC Partners are working with a healthcare organisation in Central London to recruit an experienced Deputy Head of HR.
This is a hands–on senior HR role for someone who can hit the ground running, provide confident advice on high–volume and highly complex people matters, and work effectively with senior leaders across the organisation.
Reporting to the Head of HR, the successful candidate will provide both operational and strategic HR support, deputise when required, and help ensure managers receive timely, pragmatic and commercially sound advice.
The role will also have a small team underneath it. The exact structure is still being finalised, but this is likely to be either around six HR Administrators reporting into the role, or a Team Leader who will manage the administrative team.
Key responsibilities
- Providing senior–level advice on complex employee relations matters.
- Personally supporting sensitive or high–risk cases where required.
- Advising on disciplinary, grievance, appeal and other formal processes.
- Coaching and challenging managers on people issues.
- Supporting workforce planning, policy development and workforce performance.
- Using workforce data and insight to help inform decision–making.
- Supporting the Head of HR and deputising when required.
- Providing leadership and oversight to the team.
- Supporting organisational change activity where required, depending on business needs.
About you
Our client is looking for a relatively senior HR professional with strong generalist experience and the confidence to operate in a busy, complex environment.
You will ideally bring:
- Significant experience in a senior HR role.
- Strong complex ER and employment law knowledge.
- Experience working in a high–volume environment.
- Confidence advising and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Experience in a unionised organisation.
- The ability to work at pace and manage competing priorities.
- Previous exposure to organisational change would be useful.
- Healthcare experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
This could suit an experienced Deputy Head of HR, Head of HR, Senior HRBP or equivalent looking for a broad, hands–on senior HR opportunity.
