Technical Operations Engineer – HFT

Location: Hybrid Chicago / remote US

Salary: Up to $175,000 + bonus

Quant Capital is representing a highly regarded proprietary trading firm operating across global markets, including futures, equities, commodities, options, fixed income, and digital assets. The firm is defined by its engineering excellence, fast-paced innovation, and collaborative culture.

We are seeking a Technical Operations Engineer with deep experience in Linux and Python to join a critical systems team. This is a high-impact role supporting and evolving the firm’s real-time trading infrastructure in partnership with traders, developers, and other technologists.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, monitor, and support the firm’s electronic trading systems with a focus on performance, uptime, and operational stability
• Collaborate closely with development teams to drive improvements in trading system functionality and reliability
• Design and implement automation tools to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency across infrastructure processes
• Troubleshoot complex issues involving networking, custom applications, and hardware systems
• Execute infrastructure and configuration changes within a global change management framework
• Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 coverage and rapid response to production issues

Required Experience & Skills

• Degree in STEM subject preferred
• Expertise in Linux systems administration and troubleshooting
• Proficient in Python scripting for automation and infrastructure tooling
• Strong grasp of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, and multicast
• Confident handling issues across hardware, software, and network layers
• Proven experience supporting mission-critical, low-latency systems in a production environment
• Effective multitasker able to operate under pressure and prioritize in real time

Nice to have

• Background in electronic or algorithmic trading environments
• Familiarity with Grafana or other monitoring/visualization tools
• Exposure to Windows Server/Active Directory environments
