Assistant Accountant - General Ledger (MATERNITY COVER)

ChangeGroup , a leading global provider in foreign currency exchange, is actively seeking a motivated and committed individual to take on the role of Assistant Accountant, General Ledger in our London Head Office. The role is specifically to provide MATERNITY COVER for a minimum period of 9 months with a potential to extend as needed.

Job Purpose:

To assist the UK based Management Accountants in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing month-end financial accounts and ensuring compliance with accounting principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Record Maintenance: Compile and analyse financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accepted policies and procedures.

  • Month-End and Year-End Closing: Manage the month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes in a timely manner, including preparing and posting journal entries, sub-ledger to ledger reconciliations and managing the accruals and prepayment processes.

  • Perform full Trial Balance review : review all unusual balances, post approved reclassifications and corrections and support the Management Accountant in resolving all queries.

  • Account Reconciliation : Perform fixed asset and payroll account reconciliations in a timely manner, ensuring that all discrepancies are identified and resolved.

  • Key Controls & Compliance : Ensure integrity and completeness of general ledger, maintain clear audit trail and documentation of all journal entries posted, enforce strict cut-off and approved controls and ensure all reconciliations and reviews complete before period close.

  • Audit Support : Support the Management Accountant for the year-end audits, providing necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Process Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to optimise service quality and enhance financial operations.

  • Operations: Assist in streamlining and improving the general ledger process and exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

  • 3–6 years of General Ledger accounting experience.

  • Strong understanding of month-end close processes.

  • Experience of Oracle ERP system.

  • Knowledge of intercompany, payroll, and fixed asset accounting.

Salary:£33,333 per annum PRO RATA

Pension: 5% company pension contribution
