IT Director

LEGO Digital Play
London

LEGO Digital Play (LDP) will bring the LEGO brand into digital entertainment in new, innovative, and wholly-owned ways. Our mission is to ensure the LEGO Brand remains as powerfully a part of children’s lives in the next 20 years as it has been for the past 60. We aim to reach every kid on the planet, their parents, and adult fans of LEGO—and provide them with meaningful, magical, and playful new experiences.

We are in the earliest phases of this new company, offering a unique opportunity to build a new entity for the world's most beloved and trusted brand. Our culture is open, collaborative, intellectually rigorous, and creatively vibrant.

We are looking for an experienced IT Director to join the Enterprise business unit of LDP. Reporting directly to the COO/CFO, this newly created position will be based in our London headquarters. Our team is new, and we are looking for someone to play a key role in building a scalable, secure, and well-integrated technology environment. The role will enable teams across LDP to work effectively across systems, locations, and partner organisations, ensuring technology supports both day-to-day operations and long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities

As the IT Director, your objective is to build and operate a secure, scalable, and seamless technology environment that enables LDP’s teams to do their best work. You will be responsible for shaping the enterprise IT strategy effective execution across systems, people, and workplace technology, evolving from hands-on delivery to a more strategic leadership model over time. You will operate within a partner-led delivery model initially, with a clear mandate to build internal IT capabilities over time. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Defining and evolving LDP’s enterprise IT strategy and operating model, ensuring it supports a fast-growing, international organisation

  • Owning the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a modern, cloud-based IT environment across productivity, identity, and business systems

  • Ensuring integration and interoperability across core platforms (e.g. Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, collaboration tools, HRIS, ERP)

  • Establishing and managing identity and access management practices, including secure access, role-based permissions, and lifecycle processes (joiner, mover, leaver)

  • Overseeing day-to-day IT operations and support, ensuring a high-quality, scalable service model

  • Defining and executing the IT sourcing strategy, including what capabilities should be built in-house vs. delivered through partners over time

  • Building, leading, and scaling the internal IT function over time, including hiring, developing, and managing a high-performing team as the organisation grows

  • Owning IT procurement and asset lifecycle management, including laptops, peripherals, and onboarding setup for new hires in partnership with People & Culture

  • Ensuring consistent and reliable IT support and user experience across locations, including London and Denmark

  • Defining and governing collaboration tools and ways of working, ensuring a seamless experience internally and with external partners (including KIRKBI, LEGO Holding and the LEGO Group)

  • Owning and evolving LDP’s information security practices in partnership with relevant stakeholders, including defining policies, access controls, and risk management approaches, as well as establishing clear escalation paths and incident response processes for security and IT-related issues

  • Managing relationships with IT vendors, consultants, and service providers, ensuring strong delivery, cost-effectiveness, and long-term sustainability

  • Owning workplace technology in the London office, including conference rooms and hybrid meeting environments

  • Partnering with cross-functional teams (Operations, People & Culture, Finance) to ensure systems and processes support business needs and growth

  • Defining and continuously evolving clear interfaces and responsibilities between IT and Product/Engineering, ensuring alignment on identity, access, data, and security while maintaining clear ownership boundaries

  • Establishing IT governance and policies, ensuring security, compliance, and operational discipline

  • Identifying and implementing improvements to IT systems, processes, and user experience, bringing structure and scalability as the organisation grows

Qualifications

With your proactive approach and ability to take ownership, you bring structure and clarity to a complex and evolving technology landscape. You are both strategic and hands-on, able to balance long-term thinking with day-to-day execution. Moreover, you have:

  • Significant experience in IT leadership roles, ideally within high-growth or scaling environments

  • Proven experience building and scaling IT infrastructure in a start-up or rapidly growing organisation (including cloud, networking, and end-user environments), supporting periods of expansion and integration of new teams or acquisitions

  • Strong experience across cloud-based environments including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and enterprise SaaS ecosystems (IAM, MDM, HRIS, ERP)

  • Experience designing and leading the implementation of identity and access management, system integrations, and modern IT architecture in larger or more complex environments

  • Experience managing IT vendors, consultants, and external partners

  • Experience supporting distributed teams across multiple locations and geographies

  • Strong problem-solving and execution skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively across teams and external stakeholders

  • Ability to maintain discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism

  • A practical, hands-on mindset with the ability to operate in a start-up environment

  • A continuous improvement mindset and a focus on building scalable, sustainable solutions

  • Advanced English skills, both written and spoken
