Clinical/Counselling Psychologist
Job responsibilities To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical, environmental and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group. The post holder will be providing care to clients to liaise and work with family members and others involved in the clients care, including CAMHS colleagues, frontline workers in health, education, Social Services, inpatients services and the voluntary sector. The applicant will exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans. You will be expected To provide specialist psychological and / or mental health advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals, contributing to clients formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan. Person Specification Education and Qualifications Essential
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuro- psychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology
- HCPC Registration as Practitioner Psychologist: Clinical Psychologist
- Other training that can be consider equivalent to the above will be considered, including counselling psychology qualifications
- Post-qualification training in additional CAMHS related specialized work
- Recent Safeguarding children training
- CYP IAPT Training
- Qualification in core mental health or social welfare profession (e.g. social work, mental health nursing, psychology, occupational therapy) and significant post qualification experience
- Trained in ADOS, 3DI and other specialist assessments
- Post qualification experience of working within a multidisciplinary team and preferably CAMHS team
- Experience of Community based clinical work Experience of offering consultation to external agencies in the community.
- Experience of working with complex cases
- Experience of offering consultation to external agencies in the community.
- Experience of delivering CPD & training to non CAMHS professionals
- Able to deliver parent training and groups
- Experience of developing and delivering clinical training to colleagues
- Fluent in an additional language
- Experience in supervising as a family therapist
- Able to confidently and competently undertake generic and emergency CAMHS assessment
- Understands developmental issues for children and able to adapt interventions accordingly
- Understands the need for and able to competently assess risk
- Understands the elements of effective engagement and can apply these to working practice
- Understanding of and commitment to service user involvement, patient led care and choice
- Understands the need for and has experience of undertaking family and parenting work as part of CAMHS support
- Able to promote self management and recovery by working with service users and their families to understand their condition and identify and reinforce strengths, resources and coping skills
- Able to confidently and safely plan for and manage change and transition
- oExperience of running parenting groups (triple p, mellow, Webster Stratton, etc) and other types of group work group such as multi- family group
