Mobile Automotive Technician
Mobile Vehicle Technician – Mobile Service Division
Join the organization as a Mobile Vehicle Technician and be part of a new era of mobile repair.
What the role looks like
You will work from a fully‑equipped service van, following a clear digital schedule of pre‑booked appointments at members’ homes or workplace car parks. Each day you will:
- Perform routine servicing and comprehensive diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
- Carry out in‑depth repairs that would normally be done in a workshop.
- Provide members with advice, recommendations and safety checks that meet the organization’s standards.
- Use your technical skill and problem‑solving ability to get people moving safely, quickly and confidently.
Why this mobile role stands out
- Planned appointments instead of emergency call‑outs.
- Consistent workflow with no unpredictable shift patterns.
- Time to complete jobs properly, with built‑in parts ordering and support.
- Clear schedules via the organization’s mobile service platform.
- Independence and variety without the reactive nature of roadside patrol work.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute scheduled servicing, diagnostics and repairs on light vehicles.
- Conduct vehicle safety inspections in line with organisational standards.
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to members.
- Maintain and organise tools, equipment and the service van.
- Order parts and manage paperwork through the mobile platform.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
- At least 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician working on light vehicles.
- Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 penalty points.
Working Conditions
- Full‑time, 40 hours per week.
- Core hours: 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, with one Saturday shift every four weeks.
- Guaranteed overtime option after the first month (optional, £30 per hour).
- All tools, a fully equipped service van, fuel card, uniform and advanced diagnostics provided from day one.
Compensation & Benefits
- Earnings that motivate: Competitive base salary of £45,370 (including London weighting where applicable) with on‑target earnings up to £57,000 through bonuses and premium‑rate overtime.
- Opt‑in guaranteed overtime: Choose extra rest‑day work at £30 per hour – one extra day a month can add roughly £3,000 to your annual earnings.
- Vehicle & mobility perks: Access to a salary‑sacrifice car scheme (including electric vehicle options) after 12 months, delivering tax‑efficient mobility.
- Holiday & time off: 23 days of annual leave (rising to 25 days with service), plus bank holidays, paid family leave and flexible scheduling.
- Financial security: Pension scheme with up to 6.5 % employer matching, life assurance cover up to 4 × salary (optional 10 × with flex benefits).
- Wellbeing support: 24/7 confidential assistance available to you and household members aged 16 +.
- Additional perks: Discount portal for retail, holidays, tools and tech; automatic enrolment in a colleague share scheme after probation.
Opportunities for Growth
The role offers continuous development, including training on future electric‑vehicle technology and advanced diagnostics. You’ll gain experience across a wide range of repairs, building expertise that can lead to senior technical or supervisory positions within the mobile service division.
Who will thrive?
You are not only skilled with tools but also comfortable communicating directly with members. You enjoy independence, problem‑solving and variety – each appointment brings a new challenge. You take pride in delivering high‑quality service that gives people peace of mind and keeps them moving.
