Speech and Language Therapist
Speech and Language Therapist – West Drayton
We are a newly established, purpose-built SEN primary school located in the heart of West Drayton, committed to delivering exceptional, inclusive education for children aged 4–11 with a diverse range of needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), and associated learning difficulties.
At the core of our ethos is a strong multidisciplinary approach. We strive to create a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment where pupils are empowered to flourish and staff are respected, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive.
About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our collaborative and forward-thinking team. You’ll play a key role in supporting the communication and language development of pupils with complex needs. Working closely with teaching staff, families, and our therapy team, you will help embed communication strategies throughout the school and make a lasting impact on our learners.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of a developing SEN provision.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver targeted therapy sessions to pupils with a variety of communication needs, including non-verbal communication, language disorders, and social communication challenges.
* Conduct thorough assessments and contribute to EHCPs, annual reviews, and detailed therapy reports.
* Collaborate with teachers to support communication-friendly classrooms and embed therapeutic practices into daily routines.
* Provide a mix of one-to-one, small group, and whole-class interventions.
* Offer training and guidance to school staff to build their confidence and knowledge in supporting communication needs.
* Liaise effectively with families and external professionals to ensure consistent, joined-up support for pupils.
Essential Requirements
* Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* HCPC registration and RCSLT membership
* Experience supporting children with Autism and complex communication needs, ideally in an SEN or educational setting
* Strong knowledge of evidence-based interventions and therapy approaches
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Desirable
* Experience in a school-based or newly opened SEN provision
* Familiarity with AAC, Makaton, PECS, or TEACCH
* Confident in writing EHCP reports and attending multidisciplinary meetings
