  • Review lending and leasing accounting, including interest income, arrangement fees and accrued income, and, under FRS 102 Section 20, lease classification, finance lease receivables, operating lease assets, depreciation and residual values.
  • Assess the accounting implications of new lending and leasing products, financing structures, FX and hedging arrangements.
  • Maintain and enhance accounting policies, ensuring continued compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Build technical accounting knowledge across the wider Finance team.

Statutory Accounts & Financial Reporting

  • Lead the preparation and review of UK GAAP statutory financial statements across multiple legal entities.
  • Review accounting disclosures, supporting schedules, technical accounting judgements and complex accounting balances, transactions and adjustments.
  • Ensure statutory reporting requirements are incorporated into the reporting process, improving its quality, consistency and efficiency.
  • Work with the Financial Control team to ensure statutory accounts are supported by robust records and reconciliations.

  • Identify emerging financial reporting risks and work with relevant teams to address them.

Systems, Processes & Continuous Improvement

  • Simplify and standardise accounting processes, reducing manual intervention and improving control effectiveness.
  • Develop accounting procedures, technical guidance and training materials.
  • Drive improvements to financial systems, data quality and automation, improving the efficiency and scalability of the Finance function while maintaining accounting integrity.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
  • External audit experience (top 10), with demonstrable hands-on experience conducting financial statement audits.
  • Excellent working knowledge of UK GAAP, particularly FRS 102, with practical experience assessing complex transactions and documenting appropriate accounting treatments.

  • Experience managing or coordinating multiple statutory audits, including audit planning, timetables, submissions and stakeholder management, with a proven ability to drive outstanding actions through to completion.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, accounting controls and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple competing deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to explain complex accounting matters clearly.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with financial accounting systems.
  • Proactive, accountable and comfortable taking ownership of deliverables independently.
