Workshop Lead - BMW
WORKSHOP LEAD
Hedin Automotive BMW & MINI has an exciting opportunity for a Workshop Lead to join our busy BMW workshop team. As an approved BMW Dealer, you’ll work across the full BMW range, using the latest diagnostic and service equipment, with ongoing training provided by the BMW UK Training Academy.
YOUR ROLE.
As the Workshop Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving technical excellence, operational efficiency, and a high‑performance culture within the workshop.
This is a hands-on leadership position where you will support technicians with complex diagnostics, uphold BMW’s technical standards, and ensure the workshop operates professionally, profitably, and in line with Hedin Automotive values
The main duties of the role include.
Provide advanced technical support to technicians, assisting with complex diagnostic and repair work.
Oversee daily workshop operations, ensuring productivity, workflow efficiency, and adherence to BMW standards.
Conduct quality checks, including RQC inspections and road tests, to maintain exceptional repair standards and customer satisfaction.
Manage workshop systems and equipment, including ISTA updates, tool audits, and general workshop cleanliness and compliance.
Act as the main technical link between the workshop, Service Team Managers, and BMW technical teams.
Mentor and support technicians and apprentices, including conducting 1‑2‑1s and monitoring apprentice development.
Analyse and distribute job cards, ensuring accurate information, timely progress, and effective communication with customers when required.
YOUR PROFILE.
Senior Technician with Level 3, ATA/IMI Motor Vehicle Service and Maintenance qualification or equivalent
Strong technical expertise within the automotive industry, ideally with BMW / MINI experience.
Ideally you will be hybrid trained up to level 3 to 4
Able to assist and coach your colleagues with technical assistance
Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and motivate a team.
A proactive, organised, and quality-driven approach to workshop management.
Strong communication skills and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
Must be eligible to work in the UK and have a valid clean UK Driving Licence for a minimum of 1 year

SALARY AND HOURS.
Competitive Basic Salary with an OTE of £51,000 +
Working hours, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
