Senior Barista

Brunswick East is looking for a dedicated and craft driven Senior Barista to join our growing team.

Founded by two Australian sisters, Brunswick East Dalston and our Hackney Downs Bakehouse are neighbourhood favourites with big reputations for delivering top notch coffee, brunch and all things sourdough and baked carbohydrates.

Coffee shop banter and the art of conversation are what we are known for and forms part of our dedication not only to serve exceptional coffee each and every time but to serve it with the charm and enthusiasm you’d expect from your favourite local cafe.

Sustainability and reducing waste is very important to us too, and influences our seasonal food and drinks menu, using local farms employing regenerative practices and influences our approach to how we operate on a day to day basis.

We have our very own courtyard & roof top allotments onsite where we grow produce house across both kitchen and drinks offering and as such are looking for someone who is genuinely interested in where things come from and the craft/art of making things in-house and from scratch.

We serve Workshop coffee as house and have a guest roaster scheme where we showcase various, exciting roasteries each month.

THE ROLE

Your role will be to work alongside our Head Barista, supporting them in day-to-day duties whilst maintaining equipment and training new baristas on our team.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• A passion for quality coffee

• 2+ years experience in speciality coffee

• Exceptional attention to detail

• Willingness to always go the extra mile for our customers

• Ability to lead, coach and contribute within a team

• Clear understanding of milk texturising, brew ratios and extraction

• Can produce a range of latte art

Other duties will include:

• Quality control

• Training and development of barista team

• Ensuring excellent customer service at all times

• Equipment management & maintenance

• Maintain & promote health & safety values

• Coffee & coffee related stock management

• Choosing guest roasters
