Year 2 Teacher — Merton
Are you a committed Year 2 Teacher seeking a Full-Time position from January 2026? A Good primary in Merton is recruiting a Year 2 Teacher to join a supportive KS1 phase. The successful Year 2 Teacher will take part in planning ahead of January 2026, attend induction during January 2026, and teach from January 2026 as a Full-Time Year 2 Teacher.

The role — Year 2 Teacher
This Year 2 Teacher will lead systematic phonics, guided reading and carefully sequenced writing and maths units. The Year 2 Teacher will use formative assessment to target support, run small-group interventions and track pupil progress. The Year 2 Teacher will collaborate with colleagues on moderation before January 2026 and will contribute to the phase development after January 2026. As a Full-Time Year 2 Teacher, you will have protected planning time and access to phase coaching starting in January 2026.
What the Year 2 Teacher will do day-to-day
• Plan and deliver daily phonics and guided reading as the Year 2 Teacher.
• Use assessment to personalise learning and run targeted booster groups as the Year 2 Teacher.
• Communicate with families and lead termly reports as the Year 2 Teacher.
The Year 2 Teacher will be part of a collaborative staff team that values reflective practice and research-informed teaching from January 2026.
Person specification — Year 2 Teacher
We are seeking a Year 2 Teacher with QTS and strong KS1 experience. The ideal Year 2 Teacher is reflective, energetic and skilled at behaviour management. The Year 2 Teacher must be available for pre-term planning before January 2026, induction in January 2026, and to teach full-time from January 2026.
