HLTA (Level 4)

We’re looking for a dedicated, experienced, energetic, and caring Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our fantastic team! What you’ll be doing: Support teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Managing pastoral programs. Planning and delivering learning activities Monitoring student progress including assessing, recording, and reporting on student achievements. Assist with classroom management and behaviour support. Cover lessons in the absence of the class teacher. Contribute to the assessment and tracking of student progress. Assist in the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources. What we’re looking for: HLTA qualification or equivalent experience. Previous experience working as a teaching assistant or in a similar educational support role Experience working with students with SEMH and/or ASC needs. Strong understanding of child development, autism strategies, and trauma-informed approaches. Strong understanding of child development and the primary/secondary curriculum. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage behaviour effectively and support diverse learning needs. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Leaways School is an independent specialist day school in Clapton, for children and young people aged between the ages of 7 and 17. The school provides a safe learning environment for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs including autism and an EHC Plan. We also have a dedicated primary unit taking children from 7 years old.
