Job Title: Partnerships Manager

Reporting to (Job Title): Commercial Director

Objective of role: To help lead and deliver TheCityUK’s sponsorship strategy, securing and growing sponsorship revenue in line with the organisation’s commercial goals. The Partnerships Manager will focus on building and managing relationships with sponsors and partners, with a particular emphasis on the Excellence in Financial Services Awards, industry survey, and other key partnership opportunities as outlined in the commercial strategy.

Key Activities & Responsibilities

Key account planning and management

  • Develop and execute a sponsorship sales plan to achieve ambitious revenue targets set out in TheCityUK’s five-year commercial plan.

  • Identify, approach, and secure headline and supporting sponsors for TheCityUK’s flagship events, including the Excellence in Financial Services Awards, major conferences, and annual industry survey.

  • Build and maintain a pipeline of sponsorable reports, campaigns, and thought leadership outputs, aligning opportunities with sponsor interests.

  • Develop and promote innovative sponsorship packages, including multi-year and tiered options, co-branded content, and exclusive engagement opportunities.

  • Collaborate with Account Managers to cross-sell sponsorship opportunities to existing members.

Relationship management

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with current and prospective sponsors, ensuring a high level of engagement and satisfaction.

  • Work closely with colleagues across the Member Insight Team and other internal teams (Events, Policy, Public Affairs, Research, Marketing) to deliver value for sponsors and ensure seamless execution of sponsorship agreements.

  • Act as a key point of contact for sponsors, providing regular updates, demonstrating ROI, and identifying new opportunities for collaboration.

Strategic development

  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to inform sponsorship strategy and identify new partnership opportunities.

  • Use data-driven insights to tailor sponsorship offerings and demonstrate value to sponsors.

  • Support the development and launch of new products (e.g., data-driven survey offerings) that deliver actionable insights for sponsors and content for media/member intelligence.

Awards and survey programme

  • Lead on securing and managing sponsors for the Excellence in Financial Services Awards, including revising award categories and enhancing marketing to maximise sponsor engagement.

  • Manage partner engagement on sponsorship.

  • Develop and deliver sponsorship for the annual industry survey, ensuring it meets the needs of sponsors and TheCityUK’s strategic objectives.

General

  • Act as an advocate for TheCityUK’s commercial proposition and the wider industry.

  • Contribute to best-in-class partnership and sponsorship management practices across the organisation.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of TheCityUK’s business, activities, and the wider financial services landscape.

Internal:

  • TheCityUK Member Insight Team.

  • TheCityUK’s Executive Committee, Senior Management Group and other colleagues.

External:

  • Key contacts within member and non-member (prospect) organisations and representatives

  • Key industry bodies and individuals.

  • Other external influencers as appropriate to develop TheCityUK’s commercial proposition.

Person Specification

  • Proven track record in sponsorship sales, partnership management, or business development, ideally within financial services, events, or trade body environments.

  • Strong commercial acumen and experience of delivering against ambitious revenue targets.

  • Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Experience developing and managing sponsorship packages for events, awards, or research outputs.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • CRM experience and a data-driven approach to sales and relationship management.

  • Degree desirable.
