Product Owner

About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Product Owner to lead the transformation of InvestEngine’s back-office operations. The core mission of this role is to drive automation and resilience across InvestEngine’s back-office operations — enabling scalable, compliant, and efficient processes that unlock operational capacity and support long-term platform expansion.
Working at the intersection of Operations, Technology, and Compliance, the successful candidate will streamline processes to reduce manual effort, improve auditability, and prepare InvestEngine’s infrastructure to support future third-party servicing opportunities.
What You’ll Do
- Own and deliver the roadmap for back-office automation and operational control improvements.
- Champion operational scale by reducing manual effort, increasing accuracy, and building robust process controls.
- Design with resilience, auditability, and FCA compliance in mind.
- Partner with Compliance and Risk to embed reporting, MI, and governance standards in back-office systems.
- Own prioritisation of the back-office development backlog in alignment with the COO, Director of Operations, and CTO.
- Participate in sprint planning with development teams; prioritise, specify, and manage the backlog for back-office improvements.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and CTO to deliver improvements to internal payments systems and operational tooling.
- Continuously refine backlog priorities based on business goals, incident reviews, and stakeholder feedback.
- Contribute to the design of a scalable back-office platform capable of supporting external servicing models
- Shape InvestEngine’s long-term operational architecture and automation tooling.
Who you are:
- 5–8 years of experience in product, operations, or transformation roles within financial services or fintech.
- Deep understanding of back-office operations including transaction flows, cash movement, reconciliation, and exceptions.
- Experience working with regulatory frameworks (e.g. CASS, SMCR, Consumer Duty) and operational oversight obligations.
- Proven track record in delivering automation or control-heavy improvements in regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of operational processes and controls in investment or custody platforms.
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills; ability to analyse and visualise Ops data (Python is a plus).
- Structured thinker with high attention to detail and a bias for simplification.
- Confident stakeholder manager, able to navigate priorities across Operations, Engineering, Risk, and Compliance.
- Comfortable in ambiguous, fast-paced settings with a strong delivery mindset.
