At Teach Now, we are working closely with a forward-thinking and inclusive secondary school in Hertfordshire to recruit a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant. The Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting the academic and emotional development of students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) challenges. Your responsibilities will include working both one-on-one and in small groups to provide tailored support, adapting classroom activities to align with individual learning plans, and assisting pupils in both mainstream and specialised classroom settings. You’ll collaborate closely with SENCOs, teachers, and external professionals, helping to foster independence, build confidence, and encourage a love of learning in every student you support. Your presence will be a key part of the students’ academic and personal journey.
We’re Looking For:
• Experience working with children or young people with SEN (school or non-school setting)
• A patient, calm, and empathetic approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
• A desire to learn and grow with continuous professional development
• Desirable (but not essential):
• Knowledge of EHCPs, ASD strategies, or Team Teach
• A background in Psychology, Youth Work, or Health & Social Care
