Menswear Design Assistant - Jersey
COS is looking for a Menswear Jersey Design Assistant to join the team in London.
With a clear understanding of the COS' aesthetics and customer to ensure visual and design targets of the brand, the Design Assistant will support the jersey Team with a range of responsibilities, such as communicating sketches clearly and maintaining a clear view of the assortment. You will be eager to push the product to the next level and pay attention to the smallest of details.
What the Design Assistant will do:
- Support to drive the assortment throughout your department, by having a clear understanding of our customers and the COS aesthetics.
- Collaborate with all functions in the design/buying/pattern department to ensure you deliver an efficient workflow.
- Assist in fittings, taking notes and updating technical sketches on Illustrator, and make sure files are communicated.
- Assist and help with research as well as file research for the department.
- Produce clear and detailed technical packs and build sketch libraries.
- Oversee and maintain the collection overviews and sketch boards
- Demonstrate a strong design identity in line with COS aesthetics, provide a sense of colours and strong attention to detail.
- Collaborate with the fabric developer to research and develop qualities in line with the seasonal directions and commercial needs of the assortment.

- Experience in a Design Assistant position
- A certifiable design qualification specialising in Menswear
- Ability to research thoroughly into the seasonal directions and suggest new ideas suitable for the COS aesthetic while demonstrating a high level of awareness
- Understanding and interest in sustainable fashion solutions, material innovation and product development
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meeting tight deadlines
- Proficient with Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Wide technical knowledge and strong 3-dimensional sense, and able to do Tech packs.
- Knitwear experience would be a plus
- Experience/knowledge of knitwear would a plus
