Payroll and Pensions Officer

Phoenix Hospital Group | 37.5 hours per week | 25 Harley Street / other Phoenix Hospital Group locations.

Phoenix Hospital Group is looking for an experienced and detail-focused Payroll and Pensions Officer to join our finance team.

Reporting the the CFO, you will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll and pension administration across the organisation. You will work closely with HR, Finance, employees, pension providers and our outsourced payroll provider ensuring that payroll and pension processes are compliant, accurate and delivered within statutory deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payroll accurately and within agreed deadlines, including starters, leavers, salary changes, overtime, bonuses and statutory payments.
  • Manage workplace pension administration, including auto-enrolment, contributions, opt-outs and re-enrolment.
  • Liaise with our outsourced payroll provider, HMRC and pension providers.
  • Reconcile payroll and pension reports and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with PAYE, National Insurance, RTI, pension legislation and GDPR.
  • Support payroll year-end activities, reporting and audits.
  • Respond to employee payroll and pension queries.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records.
  • Contribute to improving payroll processes, policies and systems.

About you

You will have:

  • Previous experience in payroll processing and pension administration.
  • Good knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and pension auto-enrolment.
  • Experience using payroll and HR systems, particularly Employment Hero.
  • Experience working with an outsourced payroll provider.
  • Strong numerical, reconciliation and Excel skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • The ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

CIPP qualification, healthcare experience and experience working within a multi-site organisation are desirable.
