Senior QA Engineer/Senior SDET

Noon Academy
London

About Noon

Noon's mission is to radically change the way people learn, with a primary focus on the Middle East, where the company has its roots and where the need and urgency to improve education are highest.

We have taught over 12 million students successfully with our remote learning products. Our next big challenge is to build a network of schools, supported by top teachers and driven by technology and innovation, to positively impact even more lives.

Why work at Noon?

  • The opportunity to have a real impact on millions of students.
  • A strong leadership and engineering team to learn from.
  • Profitable: we are small but profitable company that has found a strong product market fit.

About the role

At Noon, we are developing a product used by thousands of students every day. As a Senior QA Engineer , you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of our platform. Join our distributed, high-performing team in our central London office (hybrid, 2 days per week), where the core of our tech team is located.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain robust test strategies for our web and mobile apps, covering functional, performance, and security testing.
  • Implement and enhance automated testing frameworks to ensure high test coverage across APIs, frontend and backend services.
  • Continuously monitor and improve software quality through proactive testing, root cause analysis, and risk-based assessments.
  • Debug critical production issues, participate in incident management, and drive resolutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Advocate for best practices in test automation, release, and overall software quality improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product and School Ops teams.
  • Be a team player.

Ideally, you will have

  • Strong experience in test automation for web and mobile, using tools like Cypress.
  • Critical thinking on when to automate tests versus manual testing for maximum efficiency.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and integrating automated tests.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., DataDog, Grafana, Prometheus) to analyze system health and test results.

Bonus, if you have

  • Experience testing performance, security, and scalability of distributed systems.
  • A track record of handling large scale production incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and leading post-mortems to improve quality.

The interview process

Technical -> Testing Design -> Behavioural.

Benefits

In addition to a competitive base salary, we offer:

  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
  • Performance-based bonus
  • 25 days annual leave and Christmas office closure days on top
  • 5% contribution to your Pension Scheme
  • Private Medical Scheme including Family cover
  • Income Protection and Life Assurance to help you to protect your future

About Diversity & Inclusion

We understand that everyone has a unique set of skills and experiences. If you’re passionate about making a real positive impact through education, even if you don’t meet all the requirements above, we encourage you to apply.

At Noon, we respect and value differences. We know that when people from different backgrounds and with different points of view work together, we create the most value – for our clients, our people, and society. We’re so lucky to live in a society where differences are celebrated, so we’d expect nothing less from our teams. That means whatever your race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender, this is a place to feel at home, express yourself freely, and make your mark. Noon is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of age, disability, gender identity, marital status, race, colour, ethnicity, religion, sex, national origin, or sexual orientation.
