Not your average role…. This is a senior leadership position within the IT department, reporting to the Head of IT. The role is focused on leading the delivery of secure, high-performing, and highly available IT support and infrastructure operations. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality technical support services, maintain robust IT infrastructure, and drive continuous improvement across IT operations. You will lead and integrate operational and infrastructure teams, implementing ITIL best practices to deliver exceptional service standards. The scope of this role includes IT service desk, hardware and software assets, configuration and change management, servers, IP networks, storage, and cloud services. The post holder will also contribute to the development of technology strategy aligned with ScotRail’s organisational objectives, while staying current with emerging technologies. This role requires a minimum of 4 days per week in the office and participation in the ScotRail IT On-call rota. Key Responsibilities: * Lead and manage operational and infrastructure teams, implementing ITIL best practices to deliver excellent performance and customer experience. * Oversee implementation and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, and cloud services. * Ensure high availability, performance, and security of infrastructure systems, including resilience planning and testing. * Organise on-call coverage for out-of-hours emergency support. * Drive excellent customer service and user satisfaction. * Develop, monitor, and report KPIs across Operations and Infrastructure teams. * Manage budgets, supplier relationships, and procurement for IT services and hardware. * Develop and execute IT strategies aligned with business goals. * Mentor and develop IT team members. * Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to enforce IT security policies and processes. * Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements. Essential: * Strong technical expertise across IT infrastructure domains. * Proven leadership and team development experience. * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. * Risk and compliance awareness. * Strong organisational skills. Desirable: * Familiarity with automation and monitoring tools. * Experience in hybrid cloud environments. * Knowledge of the railway environment. * Degree in Computer Science or related field. This role works Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week, and is based in Atrium Court. Salary £75k per annum.
