The Role
As a Principal Medical Copywriter, you will be a senior leader in the medical copywriting team and a trusted advisor to clients and colleagues.
You will:
- Translate complex scientific data into persuasive, audience-appropriate copy
- Lead key accounts and ensure all outputs meet highest scientific, creative, and regulatory standards
- Provide mentorship and people management for junior and mid-level copywriters
- Shape messaging, narratives, and brand voice across campaigns and channels
- Advise teams on strategic and scientific aspects of pitches, briefs, and account work
- Collaborate closely with creative, account, and scientific colleagues to ensure alignment and quality
In this senior-level role, you will be recognized as a thought leader, championing quality content development, providing guidance on scientific strategy, and inspiring your team to push boundaries and elevate their work.

Key Responsibilities
- Champion best practice in the medical copywriting team
- Write and guide persuasive copy across formats, channels, and audiences
- Ensure medical accuracy, quality control, and regulatory compliance on key accounts
- Lead discussions with clients and colleagues on complex narratives and portfolio messaging
- Collaborate with senior creatives to inform themes, concepts, and tactical proposals
- Provide people management and mentorship to team members
- Contribute to resource management, recruitment, and training initiatives
- Maintain expertise across multiple therapy areas and advise on scientific strategy
- Identify challenges, propose solutions, and drive delivery across multiple projects
Requirements
- Extensive experience in medical copywriting, leading multiple accounts
- Solid scientific background (bachelor’s degree in life sciences, 2:1 or above)
- Deep expertise in healthcare communications and industry regulations (ABPI Code of Practice)
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and people management skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication
- Ability to work creatively, strategically, and proactively
- Comfortable advising clients and colleagues on scientific and medical content
- Able to inspire a team and elevate standards of work
