Design Manager

Our client, a major UK retail bank, provides every day banking services to over 17 million retail customers. The banks expertise and services span across Business Services, Corporate banking, Wealth Management, Group Functions, Retail and Investment Banking. On behalf of this organisation, AMS are looking for a Design Manager for a 6 month contract. Hybrid working, 1 day a week in London office. Purpose of the Role: In this key role, you'll bring your understanding and knowledge of HCD creative disciplines to make day-to-day banking for the clients customers effortless. Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you'll be applying HCD methods to translate and identify customer needs and balancing these with business objectives and technology to improve user experiences with commercial impact. As a Design Manager you will be responsible for: Identifying opportunities to improve existing digital experiences, focusing on their usefulness, usability, visual design, content and branding. Provide high quality consultancy and working collaboratively to drive and deliver improvements. Lead collaboration between external partners and internal HCD teams from project inception to completion. Shape HCD design and research briefs, making sure that new experiences are of the highest quality, meeting both user and business objectives. Embed user experience best practices across community of experience and journey managers, creating and improving guidelines, driving consistency and ensuring the benefits are understood. Coach and mentor teams, building HCD knowledge and advocacy of good user experience and design.What we require from the candidate: Experience working in a digital role focused on user experience or design. Ideally, you'll come from a background in a design-related discipline, such as product design, user research, interaction design, service design or digital optimisation. Demonstrate an expert understanding of human and user-centred design methods, as well as usability, user research and accessibility design. Experience of working with Agile methods, as well as the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. An understanding of the business, market trends, customer needs and the operational strategies that contribute to business success. Experience of working with agencies and third parties, from briefing to delivery. The ability to solve problems, understand issues and identify opportunities with the customer in mind throughout. Experience of working with large scale digital estates and a wide variety of stakeholders. Excellent influencing and storytelling skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback to a variety of stakeholders at different levels.Next steps This client will only accept workers operating via an Umbrella or PAYE engagement model.
