Deputy Head RVN | Lead, Coordinate & Thrive - West London

JR Veterinary
West London

Are you a natural leader with a "cool head" and a passion for high-stakes hospital nursing? We are looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to step into a pivotal Deputy Head RVN role at an impressive, state-of-the-art hospital in West London.

This is the perfect move for an RVN who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is ready to shape the daily flow of a large, high-functioning clinical team.

The Role & Responsibilities

As Deputy Head RVN, you will be the "engine room" of the hospital, ensuring clinical standards remain elite while supporting the growth of your team.

  • Daily Coordination: Lead the nursing team, managing duty allocations, breaks, and workflow across prep, theatre, and imaging.
  • Clinical Oversight: Stay across all hospitalised cases, new admissions, and pending discharges.
  • Mentorship: Act as a Clinical Supervisor for students and VCAs, ensuring training is delivered to a high standard.
  • Referral Liaison: Coordinate both emergency and routine referrals between branches and the hospital.
  • Equipment Management: Ensure state-of-the-art diagnostic and surgical tools are maintained to peak standards.

The Package

  • Salary: £37,000 – £41,000 per annum (depending on experience).
  • Work-Life Balance: Monday to Friday position with a 1:5 weekend rotation (with TOIL).
  • Management Support: You will be part of the manager on-call rotation for weekends (phone-based support only—no hospital attendance required).
  • Generous Leave: 6.6 weeks annual leave (including bank holidays).
  • Professional Perks: Yearly CPD budget plus 2 days' paid CPD leave.
  • Health & Well-being: Paid 30-minute lunch breaks, private medical healthcare scheme options, and medical cashback incentives.
  • Future Proofing: Comprehensive leadership training provided to help you excel in your management career.

About the Hospital

Based in a prime West London location, this hospital offers an exceptional first-opinion, emergency, and referral service. You will work alongside diploma holders and experienced surgeons in a facility equipped with a new CT scanner, advanced ultrasound, and suites for complex orthopaedic and minimally invasive surgery.

  • Location Perks: A 6-minute walk from the Central Line (easy access to Central and East London) or free onsite parking—a rare find for the city!

How to Apply

If you have a passion for hospital nursing and are ready to take the next step in leadership, we want to hear from you. Contact the JR Veterinary team for a confidential discussion:
