Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

About the Company:
Our client is a reputable construction company specializing in commercial refurbishment projects across various sectors. They pride themselves on delivering high-quality results with a focus on attention to detail, safety, and client satisfaction. Due to continued growth and an expanding project portfolio, they are now seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join their team based in Kenley, Surrey.
Role Overview:
As a Construction Estimator, you will be responsible for managing the cost estimation process for a range of commercial refurbishment projects. You will work closely with the project managers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure accurate and competitive pricing for projects ranging from £30k to £3 million in value. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in estimating within the construction industry, particularly on commercial refurbishments, and will be able to provide clear and detailed cost breakdowns.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial refurbishment projects from initial feasibility stages through to final tender submissions.
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, and scope of work to develop detailed take-offs and pricing.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain the best possible prices and terms.
- Conduct site visits as required to assess project scope and ensure estimates are realistic and achievable.
- Manage and coordinate the bid process, ensuring all tenders are submitted on time.
- Ensure that all cost estimates align with company standards, project budgets, and client expectations.
- Collaborate with the project management team to monitor costs and ensure the project remains within budget.
- Provide value engineering solutions where appropriate to optimize project costs.
- Assist with the preparation of cost reports and budgets for clients.
- Maintain accurate records of all estimates, quotes, and correspondence.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator, with a strong background in commercial refurbishment projects.
- Excellent understanding of construction processes, costs, and pricing strategies.
- Strong knowledge of relevant construction regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Causeway, Excel, or similar tools).
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines.
- A degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred but not essential).
- Experience with projects ranging from £30k to £3 million in value is highly desirable.
