Youth Work Degree Apprentice & Teaching Instructor (IAP)
What skills and experience we're looking for
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to develop as a Youth Worker. You need to be passionate about supporting young people with diverse and complex needs, including SEMH, SEND and those requiring additional pastoral support, while completing a fully funded Level 6 Youth Work Degree Apprenticeship. We are seeking a committed and inspiring individual to join our Access & Inclusion Department as a Teaching Instructor & Youth Work Degree Apprentice based within our Internal Alternative Provision (IAP): “The Base”. The three year apprenticeship will enable qualification at Degree Level, with “learning on the job” linked to university and guided learning. About the Role You will play a key role in creating a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment, helping students to re-engage with education and achieve positive personal, social and academic outcomes. Working across the IAP and school Behaviour Teams, you will: • Contribute to personalised learning programmes and reintegration pathways• Deliver targeted teaching and learning support to individuals and small groups
• Provide mentoring and youth work interventions focused on wellbeing, resilience and life skills
• Build strong, trusting relationships with students as a positive role model
• Support students’ engagement, behaviour, emotional regulation and personal development
• Work collaboratively with staff, families and external agencies This is a unique dual-role, combining education and youth work practice, with the opportunity to apply theory directly to your day-to-day work whilst qualifying at degree level. We are looking for someone who: Has a passion for working with young people, particularly those with additional or complex needs • Is calm, resilient, empathetic and flexible in their approach
• Can build strong professional relationships with students, families and colleagues
• Has experience (or a strong interest in) mentoring, pastoral support or alternative provision
• Is committed to completing a Youth Work Degree Apprenticeship (Level 6)
• Can work both independently and as part of a team You will be enthusiastic, reflective and motivated by a desire to transform life chances for vulnerable young people. About the Access & Inclusion Department The Access & Inclusion Department supports a wide range of pathways, including: • Internal Alternative Provision (IAP)
• Pastoral Care Centre (PCC)
• SEND and SEMH support
