Intern, Associate Security Engineer (Hiring Immediately)
We’re reinventing payments.
In less than four years, Dojo disrupted the market to become the largest and most loved acquirer in the UK. Our payments infrastructure, purpose-built for in-person commerce, is game changing.
Now, over 150,000 customers across four countries choose to transact billions with us every year.
But we’re just getting started.
Our people are the driving force behind our success. They are our greatest investment and our ultimate competitive advantage. We hire exceptional people and give them the autonomy, trust, and ownership to thrive. The results take care of themselves.
At Dojo, we aren’t just processing payments; we are revolutionising how the UK High Street does business. We are a cloud-first fintech processing transactions for more than 150,000 customers - from your local coffee shop to enterprise giants.
We are seeking two enthusiastic and talented Information Security students to join our dynamic security teams in London. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to launch their careers in a fast-paced fintech environment.
We offer a flexible placement experience with pathways focusing on either Security Risk or Product Security. Depending on your strengths and interests, you will have the chance to shape your trajectory within the team.
Please only apply for this position if you are a currently studying Informatics, Cyber Security or a closely related subject & are looking for a 12-month industrial placement as part of your degree. What You’ll Be Doing
You will be an integral part of our security team. You will gain invaluable hands-on experience and mentorship from industry professionals, helping to secure the infrastructure and processes that power Dojo.
Your responsibilities will span across key pillars of modern cybersecurity:
- Enterprise Security: Gain practical experience by helping manage endpoint protection tools, monitoring system updates, and assisting with access controls (such as MFA) to ensure our environment remains secure against threats.
- Security Architecture & Engineering: Collaborate with our engineering teams to build security in from the start (“shift-left”). You will help define security requirements for new features, participate in threat modelling sessions to identify potential risks, and assist in scoping security assessments and penetration tests.
- Security Risk: Dive into the strategic side of security across the business. Work with other teams to remediate key security issues, review the physical security of Dojo offices and data centres, and evaluate the security of external applications and organisations before they are added into Dojo’s environment.
- Security Culture & Awareness: Help build a security-first mindset across the company by supporting awareness initiatives, building up security training, and testing via phishing simulations.
Who We’re Looking For
- A Passionate Learner: You have a genuine interest in Cyber Security, whether it lies in the technical defenses of systems, the ‘human factor’ of how security works at an individual level, or how security functions at a fast-moving fintech.
- Analytical Thinker: You enjoy problem-solving and have an eye for detail, whether you are analysing logs or reviewing documentation.
- Communicator: You can articulate complex concepts to different audiences and enjoy working with people.
- Tech-Forward: Experience in coding and networking is advantageous, however we strongly believe security is a way of thinking not an acquired skillset, and plenty of our security team did not start from a technical background.
What You Can Expect:
- Modern Tech Stack: We operate a cutting-edge cloud-native environment (i.e., GCP, AWS, K8s) where automation, GitOps and Infrastructure-as-Code are standard.
- Real-World Impact: Whether you are patching a vulnerability or preparing a compliance report, your work will directly contribute to maintaining the trust of Dojo’s customers in the reliability and security of our product, helping to revolutionize customer experiences through secure technology solutions.
- A Culture of Learning: We live by our values - Curious, Relentless, and Customer-Obsessed. Questions are encouraged, mentorship is structured, and your growth is prioritised.
Collaborative Teamwork: Work within cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative environment where you will learn how security integrates with Agile development and engineering velocity.
Dojo home and away
We believe our best work happens when we collaborate in-person. These “together days” foster communication, drive innovation and spark our brightest ideas.
That's why we have an office-first culture. This means working from the office 4+ days per week.
With offices across Europe, we know a thing or two about staying dynamic. Need deep focus? Head to a quiet zone. Big ideas? Collaboration spaces have you covered. Just here for a catch-up? Our social hubs make it easy. Do work that counts, in spaces made for you.
Question: what’s curious, relentless, and customer obsessed?
If you’re keen to know the answer, you’re a third of the way to meeting our Dojo values.
If the following speak to you, let’s talk:
- You’re curious. You have a real desire to learn and create.
- You’re relentless. You keep going even when it’s easier not to.
- You’re customer-obsessed. You know how important customers are to what you do.
