The successful Sociology Teacher will deliver engaging lessons that encourage students to understand society from a range of perspectives. You will introduce students to key sociological theories, concepts and research methods while helping them develop the ability to apply these ideas to contemporary issues.
The role will primarily involve teaching A-Level Sociology, so strong subject knowledge and an ability to prepare students for demanding examinations are essential. You will help students develop their analytical writing, evaluation skills and ability to construct well-supported arguments.
Lessons should provide a balance between subject knowledge, discussion, independent research and examination preparation. You will monitor progress closely and provide students with clear, constructive feedback to help them improve.

Sociology Teacher - Experience and Qualifications
Sociology Degree or related subject
QTS or recognised teaching qualification
Experience teaching Sociology
Ability to teach KS5
A-Level Sociology experience essential
Strong knowledge of sociological theory and research
Excellent analytical and written communication skills
Confident classroom management
Ability to prepare students for examinations
Strong assessment and feedback skills
Ability to encourage discussion and independent thinking
Salary
The salary for this Sociology Teacher position will be paid to scale on MPS/UPS, depending on experience and qualifications.
