Associate, Restructuring & Insolvency, Leading US Law Firm (2-6 PQE)
Job description
Our client, a prestigious international law firm, is seeking a talented Restructuring and Insolvency Associate to join its London office. The firm is well-known for advising global corporations, investors, and financial institutions on high-stakes restructuring, special situations, and distressed investment matters that often involve complex cross-border elements.
This role offers the chance to work closely with leading partners on both advisory and transactional aspects of financial restructurings, as well as contentious insolvency situations, representing a sophisticated client base including sponsors, funds, and financial institutions.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate will play a central role in advising on a wide range of restructuring and special situations mandates, including:
- Cross-border restructuring and insolvency matters involving multiple jurisdictions.
- Distressed debt transactions, including bank loans, high-yield instruments, and intercreditor arrangements.
- Advising debtors, creditors, investors, and insolvency practitioners on complex restructuring processes.
- Working on both in-court and out-of-court proceedings, including administrations, schemes, and other restructuring tools.
You will have the opportunity to work across teams and sectors, collaborating with colleagues in finance, corporate, and litigation groups to deliver integrated, commercial advice to clients.
Candidate Profile
Our client is looking for a motivated and commercially astute lawyer who can operate confidently in a fast-paced and intellectually demanding environment.
Key requirements include:
- England & Wales qualified solicitor, with 2 to 6 years’ PQE .
- Strong grounding in restructuring, insolvency, or special situations work gained from a top-tier City or international firm.
- Familiarity with core financing instruments such as term loans, bond structures, and intercreditor documentation.
- Experience advising on restructuring-related court proceedings or cross-border mandates is advantageous.
- Excellent drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly and succinctly.
- A team-oriented approach, intellectual curiosity, and genuine enthusiasm for restructuring work.
