Senior software engineer - travel
Job Description:
About Rippling
Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.
Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.
Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.4B+ from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.
We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that all official communication will only be sent from @ Rippling.com addresses.
About the role
You’ll join the Spend org, which is reshaping corporate spending from millions to billions of dollars in transactions every month. The Travel team drives the future of corporate travel through integrated solutions on the Rippling Platform. As part of the Spend Suite—covering corporate cards, expense management, procurement, and bill pay—the Travel team is central to our all-in-one spend solution.
Customers already value the seamless mix of corporate cards, expense tracking, and accounting automation; Travel management is next. Our goal is to build the best travel platform for employees, finance teams, and travel managers, set to launch in 2025. We’re currently in alpha.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll expand our travel and spend offerings with high availability, strong scalability, and low latency. Your work will impact revenue, shape the customer experience, push cross-team initiatives, and keep technical standards high. Since day one, we’ve aimed to provide an excellent product while reducing operational overhead, and we’d love your help continuing that approach.
What you will do
- Contribute to the shipment of high-impact products end-to-end while maintaining a high bar for quality
- Propose, lead, and roll out technical initiatives that align the team with industry best practices for code quality, observability, testing, etc.
- Exercise great technical judgment in building scalable, maintainable, and extensible products and systems
- Take ambiguous technical problem statements, turn them into an actionable plan, and then execute on it with the team
- Model and execute against requirements involving complex and interdependent systems related to our travel infrastructure
What you will need
- 5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer
- Experience managing the complete project lifecycle, transforming intricate ideas into successful launches independently
- Demonstrate a keen product sense that advocates for delivering exceptional customer experiences.
- Experience in building projects with good abstractions and architecture
- Comfortable at developing scalable and extendable core services used in many products
- Outstanding capacity to convey intricate technical concepts clearly and precisely, both in written and verbal communication, while collaborating effectively across diverse functional teams
About the Team
We’re on a mission to redefine the travel experience. The travel team owns the end-to-end product experience for all things travel—hotels, flights, cars, and beyond. We’re committed to delivering the most seamless and intuitive travel search and booking experience, leveraging the power of Rippling’s Spend platform to automate time-consuming tasks for finance teams, managers, and employees alike.
With our unique position within the organization, the Spend suite plays a pivotal role in driving ARR and shaping the future of spend management and travel solutions.
If you’re passionate about building impactful products and love solving complex problems, we’d love to have you on board! Even if you don’t meet all of the requirements listed here, we still encourage you to apply. Skills can be used in lots of different ways and your life and professional experience may be relevant beyond what a list of requirements will capture.
