Clinical Nurse Specialist - Multiple Sclerosis Therapy and Support
Job overview
The post holder is a key team member in the delivery of and occupational health service to the service to Kings College Hospital NHS Trust and associated external contracts. The post holder will ensure that a proactive comprehensive Occupational Health Service is provided and is delivered to the highest standard of evidence based best practice. The Possession of NVQ level 1 and willingness to undertake level 2/3 . This Page 1 of 10 is the first post of its kind in our service, and it was created as a need to support the nursing team to deliver good services to the Trust.
Main duties of the job
1. To work with minimal supervision, assisting in the delivery of OH nursing activities in liaison with the multidisciplinary team.
2. To assist with administrative and clerical/other clinical duties where required to ensure the effective running of the department.
3. To undertake basic screening or health checks of OH service users where indicated.
4. To maintain own personal development with support from senior specialist nurses.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
§ To manage an agreed workload with support from colleagues and senior staff.
§ To regularly undertake clinical activities such as phlebotomy, lung function testing and manage clinic lists of patients attending for basic OH appointments.
§ To work within and support the multidisciplinary team, contributing ideas toward future developments.
§ To maintain effective communication and professional relationships with all areas within the care group and associated clinical areas within the Trust.
§ To participate in reflection and or clinical supervision sessions as provided.
§ To observe personal and collective responsibility for resource management.
§ To demonstrate initiative in managing own workload and maintaining the clinical environment, able to anticipate relevant clinical and administrative changes or problems and respond proactively to these.
§ To observe a general duty of care for the health, safety and well-being of self, work colleagues, visitors and patients within the department and wider hospital.
§ To be responsible with others for any specific risk management associated with the post, reporting and taking appropriate actions as necessary
Person specification
Education and Experience
Essential criteria
- Possession of NVQ level 1 and willingness to undertake level 2/3
- Previous clinical experience in a similar environment and able to demonstrate sound basic clinical skills.
- Experience of working in an environment with changing demands and priorities
Desirable criteria
- Able to take and relay message efficiently and accurately
- Experience of working in an NHS occupational health department or other similar sector
