About the Role

As a Primary Cover Supervisor, you will step into classrooms to oversee pre-planned lessons during teacher absences, ensuring that learning remains continuous, focused, and engaging. You will manage classroom behavior constructively, support young learners of all abilities, and foster a warm, positive atmosphere where children feel encouraged to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 in the absence of the class teacher, delivering pre-prepared learning tasks.

• Maintain a calm, safe, and productive classroom environment, implementing positive behavior management strategies.

• Guide, encourage, and assist young pupils as they work through assignments, answering questions and clarifying instructions.

• Collect completed work at the end of the lesson and provide constructive feedback to the regular class teacher.

• Support general classroom routines, pupil wellbeing, and inclusion initiatives across the school day.

Requirements

• Relevant academic background (degree or equivalent qualification) or a recognised education support qualification.

• Previous experience working with children in a primary school, tutoring, youth work, or childcare setting.

• Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and classroom presence, with a natural ability to engage and inspire younger children.

• Strong adaptability, resilience, and a calm, resourceful approach when managing different classes and groups.
