Contract: Full-Time, Permanent or Fixed-Term

This is an exciting opportunity for an active sports educator, whether an experienced teacher aiming to lead competitive fixtures or a passionate Early Career Teacher (ECT), to foster athletic excellence, healthy habits, and character development across a diverse student body.
About the Role
As a Male PE Specialist, you will inspire boys and young men across all year groups to build physical literacy, strategic movement skills, and personal resilience. Joining a supportive team, you will deliver high-energy practical sessions and academic sports theory across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE PE / Vocational Sport), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level PE / BTEC National in Sport), overseeing core sports disciplines including football, rugby, basketball, athletics, cricket, and fitness conditioning.
Environment: A modern Inner London secondary school equipped with multi-purpose sports halls, outdoor multi-use games areas (MUGAs), fitness suites, and strong partnerships with local East London sports facilities

Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, highly practical PE modules across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5 that develop movement mechanics, tactical awareness, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Teach academic sports theory for GCSE PE, A-Level PE, or BTEC Sport, preparing students for national written exams and practical moderation assessments.
Organize, coach, and manage boys' sports teams, managing fixture schedules, inter-school tournaments, and regional competitions across Inner London.
Maintain high standards of health and safety across all sporting venues, supervising changing facilities, managing equipment, and enforcing safety protocols.
Contribute actively to extra-curricular sports clubs, morning/afternoon fitness sessions, annual sports days, and student leadership opportunities.
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognized teaching credential.
A strong academic degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, Sports Coaching, or a closely related discipline.
Proven track record or demonstrated capability of delivering outstanding Male PE instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5/A-Level or BTEC Sport experience is highly desirable).
Strong coaching capability in core sports (e.g., football, rugby, basketball, athletics, cricket) and solid knowledge of national PE examination board specifications (e.g., AQA, Edexcel, OCR, Pearson).
Excellent energy, robust classroom and field management skills, and a genuine passion for guiding young men toward healthy, active lifestyles.
(Note: Gender is a Genuine Occupational Qualification (GOQ) for this post under the Equality Act 2010 due to supervision duties in male changing areas.)
Salary & Benefits
Pay Scale: Inner London Main / Upper Pay Scale (MPS/UPS Inner London, commensurate with experience), with potential TLR opportunities available for Sports Fixture Coordination or Health & Wellbeing Leadership.
Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS), comprehensive continuous professional development (CPD), structured onboarding, and access to staff health and fitness facilities.
