Consultant in Acute Medicine
As part of the Royal Free London NHS Trust, we are seeking to appoint a permanent Consultant in Acute Medicine. This position will be based at Barnet General Hospital. If appointed you will join a committed team of consultants, in our well-developed and respected service. We also pride ourselves on our supportive and forward-thinking culture. Main duties of the job
If appointed, you would support the Enhanced Care Unit, the acute medical ward and the AAU hub (through which run the acute medical take and SDEC pathways). You will also support the Acute medical team in other areas of service delivery, as and when opportunities arise. When working in the AAU, you would become part of a team involved in running the fast turnaround bed base in the unit, and also in providing an adjoining same day/same week hot clinic. You would also play a role in running the virtual ward service, a very exciting and expanding development for patients at our hospital. You would be on the acute integrated medical on-call rota, supporting weekend and out of hours provision on a 1:8 rota. About us

This is a varied and dynamic consultant post that will see you:
- Deliver high-quality care across the Enhanced Care Unit (ECU), Acute Medical Ward, and AAU hub
- Participate in the acute medical take, on a 1:8 weekend and 1:30 weekday rota
- Lead and supervise junior medical staff, and support the departments educational and teaching activities
- Contribute to and develop a specialist interest
- Engage with audit, quality improvement, clinical governance and research activity
- Specialty hot clinics

- SDEC and AEC pathways
Education & professional Qualifications
Essential
- Full GMC registration
- MRCP or equivalent
- CCT (in GIM and Ger)or Interview within 6 months of CCT date

- Demonstrable ability to meet the Shared Commitments

- Broad experience in General Internal and Acute Medicine
- Sub-specialty experience desirable
- Training and education of undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Experience in integrated care service development and delivery

- Strong teaching skills and experience
- Understanding of quality improvement, clinical governance and audit procedures

- Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
- Motivated, flexible and enthusiastic
