The HALO Trust
London

Location: London, UK (hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days a week in the London office)

Salary:  UK minimum wage (dependent on age)

Hours: Full Time

Contract Type:  Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2027

Reports To:  Chief of Staff - Operations

Key Internal Contacts/Relationships: COO and Regional teams

Job Purpose: To support the day to day running of the operations group (including regional, transformation and information system teams) to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of our global operations.

About HALO:

HALO is the leading global NGO addressing the impact and drivers of conflict in 30 countries and territories, with over 8,000 staff. Most of our staff are local employees and include a growing number of women.

Our primary duty is to serve people affected by conflict, clearing landmines and the explosive remnants of war that threaten lives and livelihoods long after fighting has finished. We make land safe where war has ended, while also assisting those affected by active conflict and endemic violence.

HALO addresses human suffering caused by armed violence in some of the world’s most fragile places, securing weapons and ammunition and working with both state and community actors to reduce the prevalence of armed violence.

About the role:

We are seeking to fill a paid internship position with a highly motivated and proactive graduate or student able to provide support to the Operations Group. Reporting directly to the Operations Chief of Staff, the successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of our global operations. This internship offers invaluable exposure to the core functions of our Chief Operating Officer and regional leadership teams, supporting their work across dynamic environments. The role will provide you with the opportunity to gain a hands-on experience across a diverse range of specialised departments within the Operations Group at The HALO Trust. Once you have established the work you find most rewarding, there will be scope to focus and take ownership of tasks in relation to your interests.

The role will initially be a fixed-term contract up to 31 March 2027. HALO’s working hours are Monday to Thursday 08:30-1730, Fridays 08:30-15:00. The position is hybrid, with a minimum of 3 days a week in the London office.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the overall running of the Operations Group with a range of administrative tasks, such as minute taking, diary management, data analysis and action tracking.

  • To provide administration support to the Global Security Advisor.
  • Directly assist wider teams within the HALO Operations Group, including the Director of Transformation, Director of Information Systems, and Regional Directors. Tasks can range from conducting research, concept notes, proposals, and reports, to monitoring our internal systems and databases.
  • Support the Operations Chief of Staff and Chief Operating Officer with ad hoc tasks as required.
