Senior Category Manager

We're looking for a Senior Category Manager, Procurement (Regeneration) for a public sector organisation based in London (remote/hybrid available) on a contract basis, paying up to £450 per day.

This is a hybrid role with some flexibility to work remotely and attend the office in London when needed.

The successful Senior Category Manager will lead construction and major works procurement across a regeneration, economy and housing development portfolio. You'll own and author the end-to-end process, from procurement strategy and project planning through to tendering, evaluation, contract award and contract management. This is very much a hands-on role, advising and persuading internal customers, managing a small project team, and driving commercial best practice, risk management and value for money.

You will need proven experience working with the following:

Construction and major works procurement in a regeneration or housing development context
End-to-end procurement lifecycle, from strategy and project planning to award and contract management
Public procurement legislation, standing orders and financial regulations
Drafting terms and conditions, service specifications and performance standards
Managing tender processes, selection questionnaires and evaluation criteria
Contract negotiations, variations, extensions and dispute resolution
Stakeholder management across legal, finance, health and safety and operational teams

You'll also need practical exposure to procurement systems and portals, including areas such as:

ProContract, Procardis or the London Tenders portal
The Central Digital Platform and contracts registers
Risk management and mitigation of legal challenges and claims

Experience managing procurement project team staff would be beneficial. CIPS certification is highly desirable for this role.
