General Manager
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader in the fitness industry to step into a General Manager role at a premier CrossFit and functional fitness training space in London. As the GM , you will take full responsibility for driving all aspects of the gym’s operations, including performance, revenue growth, and overall business management. This role is perfect for a highly motivated, experienced individual with a track record in growing and building gyms. You'll oversee everything from fitness operations, to launching their wellness offering and P&L management , ensuring the gym thrives and becomes a beacon of excellence in the industry.
You will have the opportunity to elevate the gym’s offerings, drive membership growth, and lead a passionate team while shaping a strong community culture. This role will allow you to shape the future growth of the business, as you ensure the Company's position on the fitness map.
The Role...

The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have experience managing or growing fitness facilities, with proven expertise in team leadership , business operations , and performance management . They will have a strong background in functional fitness, but specific CrossFit certifications are not required. They should be entrepreneurial, results-driven, and comfortable managing the P&L while fostering a dynamic and high-energy environment for both staff and members.
Responsibilities:
Elevate the Fitness Experience:
- Define, develop, and implement a high-performing, Functional Fitness, Crossfit and PT-led fitness strategy that is aligned with the company’s values and growth goals.
- Oversee all aspects of fitness programming, including group classes, PT sessions, and workshops, ensuring that top-tier standards are maintained at all times.
- Continuously evolve and improve the fitness offering by incorporating industry insights and evidence-based practices to keep programming fresh, engaging, and effective.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop strategies that boost brand visibility and attract new members to the gym.
- Introduce Reformer as an offering.
Lead and Inspire the Team:
- Recruit, train, and mentor a team of highly skilled coaches, ensuring the delivery of exceptional member experiences through high-quality coaching and a supportive, positive environment.
- Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and professional development opportunities, fostering an environment of growth and development for your team.
- Implement a structured development plan for the fitness team, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge to thrive in their roles and continuously improve their performance.
- Cultivate a culture of leadership within the team, encouraging proactive engagement, autonomy, and a shared commitment to the gym’s success.
Drive Operational Excellence:
- Analyse key business metrics such as class performance, PT uptake, and member feedback to guide operational improvements and scheduling decisions.
- Work closely with the founder to ensure effective budget management, tracking and controlling expenses, managing staffing levels, and identifying opportunities for revenue growth.
- Lead logistics management for events, workshops, and community-building initiatives, ensuring they run smoothly and generate maximum impact for the business.
- Oversee staffing and equipment management, ensuring the gym operates efficiently and is always well-equipped to meet the needs of the team and members.
Foster Community & Drive Results:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with members, ensuring their experience is impactful, fulfilling, and motivating.
- Champion a community-first approach, creating an environment that promotes collaboration, challenge, and support, ensuring every member reaches their full potential.
- Promote a culture that celebrates individual progress and teamwork
- Identify and implement member retention strategies, ensuring a high level of engagement, satisfaction, and loyalty.
Develop & Lead the Wellness Offering:
- Champion a holistic approach to fitness by integrating wellness components (e.g., hot and cold contrast therapy, recovery) into the gym’s core offerings.
- Lead and/or coordinate wellness-focused sessions that enhance the members’ overall fitness journey and recovery processes.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and be open to new wellness ideas, bringing fresh concepts into the gym's offering to better serve the community’s evolving needs.
- Actively support the mental and physical wellbeing of both members and staff, bringing empathy and understanding to your leadership approach.
Business Growth & P&L Management:
- Own the gym’s P&L and financial performance, driving revenue growth through improved operational efficiency, service offerings, and member acquisition strategies.
- Take ownership of all business development opportunities, including evaluating new revenue streams, driving sales through membership and additional services, and managing profit margins effectively.
- Strategise and execute growth plans that support scaling the business and increasing its market presence, ensuring a seamless experience for both members and staff.
The Person:
- 3+ years of experience in a management or leadership role in the fitness industry, preferably within gyms, fitness studios, or wellness facilities.
- Proven track record of growing and building gyms, including managing teams, developing fitness programs, and driving business growth.
- Strong experience with P&L management, budgeting, and achieving revenue targets.
- A deep passion for fitness and wellness with a focus on creating exceptional member experiences and a thriving gym community.
- Leadership and mentoring experience, with the ability to inspire and develop a team of coaches and staff.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to lead, motivate, and connect with all levels of staff and members.
- Ability to manage day-to-day operations while thinking strategically about long-term growth and sustainability.
- Solid understanding of fitness industry trends, member needs, and customer service best practices.
- Proficiency in using software systems for managing member databases, scheduling, and financial reporting.
- PT Level 3
