Founding Marketing Manager

Perceptic
London

The highest calling for AI is improving human health. At Perceptic, we're building the AI operating system that powers drug discovery - a unified intelligence layer that connects evidence, reasoning, and action across the entire drug lifecycle.

We were built by operators from Palantir who spent years deploying production AI in the world's most demanding enterprise environments. We know what it takes to make ambitious technology hold up under real pressure.

As our Founding Marketing Manager, you will be the first dedicated marketing hire at Perceptic. You'll own how the world sees us: our brand, our story, and our presence in the rooms where drug discovery decisions are made. Working directly with the founders, you'll build the marketing function from zero - defining our positioning, creating content that resonates with scientists and R&D executives, and running the events, roundtables and conference presence that put us in front of mid to top tier pharma, biotech, CROs and academic research institutes. This role combines brand building, scientific storytelling, event leadership and hands-on execution, with real scope to shape the team as we scale.

Location - Soho, Central London
Hybrid - 2 to 3 days in office
What you'll own

Brand & Positioning

  • Define and own the Perceptic brand: our narrative, messaging framework, tone of voice and visual identity.

  • Develop clear positioning that differentiates us in a crowded AI-for-science market and speaks credibly to both bench scientists and R&D leadership.

  • Act as guardian of the brand across every touchpoint - website, decks, social, events, recruitment and investor materials.

  • Manage relationships with agencies, designers and freelancers to deliver high-quality brand assets on startup timelines and budgets.

  • Build Perceptic's thought leadership profile, positioning our founders and scientific team as trusted voices on AI in drug discovery.

Events & Community

  • Own our events strategy end-to-end: deciding where we show up, why, and what success looks like.

  • Plan and deliver our presence at key industry conferences (e.g. BIO, BIO-Europe, SLAS, Bio-IT World, AI in drug discovery summits) - from booth and speaking slots to side meetings and follow-up.

  • Design and run our own events: executive dinners, scientific roundtables, webinars and customer workshops that build relationships with senior pharma and biotech stakeholders.

  • Secure speaking opportunities, panels and awards for founders and team members.

  • Build a community of scientists, computational biologists and R&D leaders who engage with and advocate for Perceptic.

  • Measure event ROI, from pipeline generated to relationships progressed, and use it to sharpen the calendar each year.

Content & Demand Generation

  • Create a content engine: blogs, case studies, white papers, scientific explainers, video and social content that demonstrate platform value.

  • Own Perceptic's website and LinkedIn presence, growing awareness and engagement within the life sciences community.

  • Plan and execute targeted campaigns (including account-based marketing) aimed at priority pharma, biotech and CRO accounts.

  • Partner with our scientific team to turn customer outcomes, publications and research into compelling stories.

  • Manage PR and media relationships, including funding announcements, partnerships and product launches.

Product Marketing & Sales Enablement

  • Translate complex technical capabilities into clear, customer-facing value propositions.

  • Build pitch decks, one-pagers, demo narratives and outreach materials with the Commercial team.

  • Lead go-to-market planning for product launches and new features.

  • Track competitive intelligence and industry trends; feed insights into positioning and product strategy.

Building the Marketing Function
  • Set up the marketing foundations: tooling, CRM integration, analytics, reporting and budget management.

  • Define marketing KPIs and report on performance to the founders.

  • Partner with founders on go-to-market strategy, target segments and growth planning.

  • Help shape the future marketing team as we scale - with the opportunity to grow into a leadership role.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years in B2B marketing, with a strong track record across brand, content and events.

  • Experience as an early marketing hire (or first marketer) at a startup or scale-up, ideally in deep tech, AI or SaaS - or marketing experience within life sciences, drug discovery, biotech, pharma services or scientific software organisations.

  • Proven ability to build a brand from early stage: positioning, messaging and visual identity that land with a sophisticated audience.

  • Hands-on experience planning and delivering events, from international conferences to intimate executive dinners and roundtables.

  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific and technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives.

  • Comfortable engaging scientists and senior R&D stakeholders with credibility.

  • Strong proactive problem-solving and doer mindset - don't ask for permission, ask for forgiveness later.

  • Comfort with ambiguity, limited resources and rapid iteration.

  • Willingness to take ownership end-to-end - happy to set the strategy in the morning and write the copy in the afternoon.

  • A builder's mindset with a passion for taking ideas from concept to reality in a fast-paced startup environment.

Nice to haves
  • Both startup/scale-up experience and exposure to life sciences or drug discovery.

  • A degree, Master's or PhD in a life science-related discipline.

  • Exposure to AI/ML products or marketing technical platforms to scientific audiences.

  • An existing network across pharma, biotech, CROs or the life sciences events circuit.

  • Experience with marketing tooling such as HubSpot, Webflow, Figma or similar.
