Account Executive/Account Manager

Sage
London

Account Executive/Account Manager - £32,880 - £47,500 – Permanent

Join us and be part of a mission-driven, independent publisher. You’ll work with a diverse group of people who share a passion for empowering researchers, educators, and institutions to shape the future.

About Sage:

Sage is a global academic publisher of books, journals, and library resources with a growing range of technologies to enable discovery, access, and engagement. Believing that research and education are critical in shaping society, Sara Miller McCune founded Sage in 1965. Today, we are controlled by a group of trustees charged with maintaining our independence and mission indefinitely.

Our guaranteed independence means we’re free to:

  • Do more – supporting an equitable academic future, furthering disciplines that drive social change, and helping social and behavioural science make an impact

  • Work together – building lasting relationships, championing diverse perspectives, and co-creating resources to transform teaching and learning

  • Think long-term – experimenting, taking risks, and investing in new ideas

About our Team:

The Library Sales team collaborates with academic, research, and library clients worldwide, assisting them in accessing and enhancing the value of Sage’s products and services. Working closely with Library Sales Managers, Customer Success, Product, Finance, Technical Support, and Operations teams, we play a vital role in delivering an outstanding customer experience throughout the customer lifecycle.

We concentrate on more than just making sales. We establish enduring relationships that enable libraries to support learning, teaching, and research within their institutions, while promoting customer satisfaction, retention, and sustainable business growth. As a collaborative and customer-centred team, we're committed to understanding our customers' needs and offering solutions that help them succeed.

We are hiring for two different roles!

We are recruiting for both an Account Executive and Account Manager for our Library division. These roles share the same core purpose and responsibilities, with the level determined by your experience, confidence working independently, and ability to shape recommendations.

We welcome applications from candidates across a range of backgrounds and will consider you for the role that best aligns with your skills and experience. If you have a preference for either position, please let us know in your application.

Salary ranges:
  • Account Executive: £32,880–£38,000 (depending on skills and experience)

  • Account Manager: £41,200–£47,500 (depending on skills and experience)

Both roles offer the opportunity to build strong relationships with library partners and across internal teams, contribute to our mission, and grow your career within a supportive, collaborative team.

Could you be our new Account Executive or Account Manager? Are you?

  • Passionate and experienced in delivering exceptional customer experiences and have experience in an account management role.

  • Experienced in building trusted relationships in complex organisations that drive long-term customer success.

  • Adept at tackling problems, advising outcomes, and partnering constructively to deliver solutions aligned with customer and business objectives.

  • Confident navigating change and adapting your approach to support evolving customer and organisational priorities.

  • An effective communicator who can build credibility and manage customer information accurately and efficiently.

  • Able to handle conflicting priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

  • Confident using Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, to handle information, produce reports, and support decision-making.

Your new role:

As Account Manager or Account Executive, you will be at the heart of our customer journey. You will take ownership once a sale is agreed. You will ensure customers have a seamless transition from purchase to adoption and renewal.

You'll build trusted relationships with library customers, helping them get the most from their investment. You will find ways to strengthen partnerships and increase engagement with Sage's products and services. By combining customer relationship management, commercial awareness, and operational excellence, you will help drive customer success, retention, and revenue growth across your territory.

  • Create a seamless post-sale customer experience that allows library customers to successfully onboard, interact with, and gain value from our products and services.

  • Establish trusted, long-lasting connections that reinforce customer loyalty, drive product adoption, and increase retention.

  • Drive successful subscription renewals by proactively demonstrating value, communicating product developments, and helping customers make informed decisions about their ongoing investment.

  • Increase revenue growth by finding opportunities to expand customer engagement through relevant products, services, and solutions that meet evolving customer needs.

  • Enhance customer satisfaction by using feedback, insights, and usage trends to find opportunities for continuous improvement and greater customer success.

  • Deliver positive customer outcomes by collaborating with internal teams to resolve challenges, remove barriers, and provide a responsive and professional service.

  • Support the growth of the territory by progressing opportunities, managing quotations and trials, and converting customer interest into measurable business results.

  • Ensure accurate and efficient commercial processes that contribute to operational excellence, revenue reconciliation, and a positive customer experience.

The working hours for this role will be 11-7pm Monday to Friday.

Overview of benefits:

  • 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) with 2 additional floating personal days.

  • Hybrid working up to 2 days per week in office and a home working allowance.

  • Life assurance, income protection, and travel insurance.

  • Private medical cover and access to the company doctor.

  • Tuition scheme and support for pursuing professional qualifications, including access to Sage books and journals.

  • Variety of snacks and beverages available in the office.

  • Healthy lifestyle reimbursement and anniversary trips.

  • Access to Company loans (season ticket loan, rental deposit loan, cycle loan).
