OverviewGallagher Re – Senior CAT Analyst – LATAM – London or Ipswich
- We are seeking a dedicated and ambitious Senior Catastrophe Analyst to join our Latin America and Caribbean Catastrophe Analytics team at Gallagher Re.
- This role can be based in Ipswich or London
- This outstanding opportunity allows you to join a key analytics hub, contributing to our mission of enabling resilience in an uncertain world.
- You will work closely with our clients, helping them understand and mitigate the risks posed by natural perils and catastrophic events.
- Contribute to renewal modelling projects: Work on local and global accounts to develop and deploy service offerings in collaboration with research teams and external academic partners.
- Quantify catastrophe risk: Use vendor catastrophe models and Gallagher Re proprietary models to assess the risk to client portfolios.
- Evaluate risk: Help develop and refine Gallagher Re’s view of risk, ensuring our clients have the most accurate and up-to-date information.
- Engage with collaborators: Work with customers, partners, brokers, and actuaries on model interpretation, portfolio management, and custom analytical projects.
- Support wider analytics services: collaborate with other business units on larger projects, contributing to our agile and team environment.
- Model updates and impact evaluation: Understand and assess the impact of updates and revisions to models and the resulting outputs.
- Post-event reporting and analysis: Provide detailed reports and analyses of natural disasters to support clients in the aftermath of catastrophic events.
- Travel and collaboration: Potentially travel to various locations, including Miami, Central & South America, and our analytics hub in India, to engage with colleagues and clients.
- Educational background: A degree or equivalent experience in numerate or hazard-related subjects is preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience in the (re)insurance market and catastrophe risk analysis using main vendor models is desirable.
- Industry knowledge: Understanding of (re)insurance business, including reinsurance structures and their application, is beneficial.
- Client-facing skills: Ability to lead analytics relationships with clients effectively.
- Problem-solving abilities: Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail are needed.
- Technical skills: Proficiency in SQL and other coding languages (e.g., Python, R) is desirable.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, with Spanish-speaking ability being highly beneficial.
- Partnership and motivation: Ability to work in a team and a strong desire to learn and grow within a global market leader.
- Eligibility: Must have the right to work in the UK.
