Senior Cost Engineer

Join the Work Winning team in London as a Senior Cost Engineer specialising in Electrical projects. You'll play a key role in creating accurate and competitive estimates from pre-tender to post-tender stages, using your electrical expertise and commercial awareness to identify risks and cost-effective alternatives.

Your day-to-day involves producing detailed take-offs, pricing labour and materials, working with Bid Managers and Cost Managers to develop bid strategies, challenging solutions, adjudicating supplier quotations, keeping up-to-date with market pricing, and supporting junior team members.

You'll enjoy working across a variety of sectors in the building and infrastructure industry, with a focus on MEP projects. As a senior member, you'll also mentor junior Cost Engineers and provide tender information handover to the project delivery team.

The Work

• Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for MEP projects, focusing on electrical services
• Develop bid and pricing strategies, identify opportunities to strengthen our commercial position
• Use technical knowledge to challenge solutions, identify alternative, cost-effective approaches
• Assess and adjudicate supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Provide an effective handover of tender information to the project delivery team
• Support and mentor junior members of the Cost Engineering team

What You Need

Essential

• Strong electrical estimating/cost engineering experience within MEP or building services
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications, produce accurate take-offs and measures
• Experience pricing electrical labour, materials, subcontractors and plant
• Good understanding of the tender and work-winning process
• Strong commercial awareness, risk identification, and alternative solution identification

Desirable

• Experience in a similar role within a large engineering or construction company
• Knowledge of current estimating software and tools
