Technical Training Lead

Join the training division of JSM Group, where we deliver high-quality vocational and compliance education to the utility sector. You’ll work alongside a dedicated team committed to safety, professionalism and supporting workforce competence across the industry.
SCOPE OF ROLE
As the Vocational Training Lead, you will plan, deliver, assess and internally quality‐assure (IQA) vocational and compliance training programmes within the utility industry. You will ensure all training activities meet awarding-body requirements, support workforce competence and promote a culture of safety and professionalism. You will deliver mandatory Health & Safety courses, NRSWA (New Roads and Street Works Act) Operative and Supervisor units, and other essential training to meet industry standards.
Location: This role will be based in Barking, East London. The role may require travel to different training sites or client locations.
HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED
✔ Deliver high-quality training in Health & Safety mandatory courses including manual handling, abrasive wheels and EUSR SHEA (Safety, Health, Environment and Awareness) ✔ Deliver NRSWA Operative and Supervisor units
✔ Plan, prepare and deliver engaging learning sessions tailored to utility industry requirements
✔ Assess learner competence and provide constructive feedback in line with assessment criteria
✔ Undertake internal quality assurance (IQA) activities to ensure consistency and compliance with awarding-body standards
✔ Maintain accurate learner and assessment records, tracking progress and achievement ✔ Support the Learning & Vocational Training Manager in developing new training materials, courses and delivery strategies
✔ Ensure all training is delivered safely and in compliance with health & safety legislation ✔ Liaise with external awarding bodies and regulatory organisations as required
✔ Support audits and compliance reviews to maintain accreditation standards
✔ Contribute to the continuous improvement of training quality, learner experience and curriculum development
✔ Promote a positive learning culture across the organisation
WHAT IT TAKES
Essential qualifications & experience
- Level 3 Award in Education & Training (or equivalent)
- Assessor qualification (TAQA, A1, CAVA or equivalent)
- Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification (Award/Certificate or equivalent)
- Experience delivering manual handling, abrasive wheels, EUSR SHEA and First Aid (including certification to deliver approved courses)
- Experience delivering NRSWA units for Operative and Supervisor levels
- Proven experience in vocational training delivery and assessment within the utility sector
- Strong understanding of compliance, awarding-body requirements and industry health & safety standards
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Desirable skills & experience NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent Level 3)
- Experience in developing and updating course materials and e-learning content
- Previous experience in utility industry training (construction, water, gas, electricity sectors)
- Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., IOSH, IIRSM)
- Experience supporting apprenticeships, vocational qualifications or trainee development programmes
