Digital Marketing Executive
Are you full of ideas, energy and eager to make your mark in digital marketing? Ready to learn fast, get stuck in, and help grow one of Britain’s most iconic media brands?
The Spectator is looking for a Digital Marketing Executive to join our ambitious, collaborative team. You don’t need years of experience – just a passion for digital marketing, a can-do attitude, and a willingness to learn everything you can. We’ve doubled our subscriber base in the last decade and we’re just getting started. If you’re looking for a place where you can make a real difference, this could be the role for you.
This is a hands-on, varied role that sits at the heart of our subscriber growth strategy. Reporting to the Head of Acquisitions, you will support the marketing team to execute campaigns across a range of digital marketing channels including social media, email marketing and website optimisation.
Responsibilities:
· Working with key stakeholders to execute an integrated marketing strategy to drive both print and digital subscription acquisition
· Maintaining a weekly digital marketing schedule of acquisition email campaigns, referral marketing campaigns and social media acquisition activity. Keeping track of activity through a campaign schedule
· Monitor the success of acquisition marketing activities through appropriate measurement and evaluation and review with Head of Acquisitions, making recommendations for improvement
· Regularly review and optimise automated email programs - such as winback series - to maximise customer engagement and retention
· Assist with the maintenance and evolution of a CRM database
· Maintain the company’s online funnel report, as well as other key reporting documents which feed into the Head of Acquisitions and other senior management
· Input into the PPC/Paid social campaigns
· A/B testing website banner creative and user journeys
· Assist with data quality control
· Feedback to the Head of Acquisitions and Marketing Team on digital trends, areas of opportunity and any emerging concerns that require attention
Requirements
What we’re looking for:
Enthusiasm is everything. You might have some experience already, or you might be looking for your first step into digital marketing. Either way, if you’re curious, creative and ready to roll up your sleeves, we want to hear from you.
Skills:
· A genuine interest in digital marketing and how things work behind the scenes
· Strong writing and communication skills (a good grasp of grammar is a must)
· Strong analytical skills, with a proficiency within Excel
· Fast learner with the ability to think on your feet
· A digital native with experience across a range of digital marketing channels (web based, social, email etc)
· Great attention to detail
· Experience working with an ESP (e.g. Mailchimp / Campaign Monitor) and with reporting tools
· A proactive attitude – you’re not afraid to ask questions or offer new ideas
· Knowledgeable on all things digital - keeping up to date with trends and best practice
· A degree or equivalent is helpful but not essential
Bonus points (but not required):
· Previous experience in a subscriptions marketing environment
· Good working knowledge of web analytic tools such as Google Analytics
· Experience utilising social media scheduling and listening tools
· Understanding of A/B testing methodology
· Basic Photoshop / Indesign skills
Why join us?
You’ll be part of a fast-moving, supportive team where your ideas will be heard and your work will make a real impact. We value curiosity, experimentation and ambition – and we’ll give you the tools and training to grow into a brilliant marketer. You’ll get to work on exciting campaigns, test new approaches, and help build on a brand that’s been influencing public conversation for nearly 200 years.
