Come and join us as a General Manager at Beds and Bars

About Us

Beds & Bars is the company behind a bunch of lively backpacker hostels, bars, and pubs across Europe. You will find us in nine cities and seven different countries, welcoming travellers, locals, and pretty much anyone looking for a good time in a safe, friendly space.

Everything we do comes back to four simple things: keeping people safe, making sure they feel secure, giving great value, and making sure everyone has fun.

People really are the centre of our world, our guests, our customers, and our team. Our motto, “Live Your Life,” sums us up nicely. We want anyone who works with us or stays with us to feel supported, included, and able to get the most out of their experience.

Job Role Overview

We are looking for a General Manager who can take the lead at one of our Beds & Bars sites and help it thrive. This isn’t a desk‑only job, it’s hands‑on, fast‑paced, and perfect for someone who enjoys a mix of day‑to‑day operations and bigger‑picture thinking.

You will be the person making sure everything runs smoothly: the team, the guests, the budgets, the atmosphere, and the overall success of the site. Some days you will be coaching the team, other days you will be digging into the numbers, and there will always be moments where you’re helping create a great experience for the people who walk through the door.

Here’s what you will be looking after:

  • Keeping daily operations on track, safe, and up to standard.
  • Making sure the site follows all legal, health, and safety requirements.
  • Setting and delivering plans to hit financial and operational targets.
  • Reviewing performance and making improvements where needed.
  • Managing budgets and keeping an eye on costs.
  • Leading, training, and supporting your team so they can grow and succeed.
  • Ensuring guests always get great service and feel welcomed.
  • Staying calm and proactive when challenges or changes pop up.
  • Building strong relationships with suppliers, partners, and your local community.
  • Working with the marketing and ops teams to bring in new customers and keep regulars coming back.

Qualifications & Skills

You are someone that:

  • Leads confidently and brings out the best in people.
  • Thinks strategically and can turn ideas into action.
  • Are comfortable managing budgets and reading financial reports.
  • Understands how to run a busy hospitality business (Experience in a hostel or something similar is a real bonus).
  • Communicates clearly with staff, guests, and partners.
  • Tackles problems with a calm, practical mindset.
  • Puts customers at the heart of everything.
  • Can adapt quickly in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Enjoys helping others learn and develop.
  • Handles change well and can lead others through it.

You will need:

  • The legal right to work in the country.
  • A personal alcohol license.
  • A bank account in your name.

Why Join Us?

Beds & Bars is a fun and friendly company where you can build a proper career. We value teamwork, diversity, and helping people develop, whether they are staying with us or working with us.

You will get:

  • 50% off food and drink across all Beds & Bars locations.
  • Discounts on accommodation at St Christopher’s Inns and partner hostels worldwide.
  • Recognition awards, team trips, and regular incentives.
  • Free mental health support and counselling.
  • Access to training and development programmes that genuinely help you grow.

If you like the sound of leading a busy, energetic site and being part of a company that values people, we would love to hear from you.

We are proud to be an equal‑opportunity employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds, without distinction based on age, disability, gender, nationality, race, religion, sexual orientation, or any other protected status.

You must have the right to work in the UK to apply for this position.

If you think you would be a good fit, we would love to hear from you!
