Head of Legal – London, UK

GFO-X is seeking a Head of Legal to join our growing team in London, UK.

GFO-X is the UK's first regulated and centrally cleared trading venue dedicated to digital asset derivatives.

Role:

• Provide legal guidance on a wide range of legal matters such as contracts, regulatory compliance, litigation, employment law, intellectual property and corporate governance
• Review, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of contracts and agreements, including those related to trading, technology, and partnerships. Advise senior management on legal risks and opportunities related to business strategy
• Identifying and mitigating legal risks
• Manage relationships with external legal counsel
• Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure that the company is in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
• Stay up-to-date with industry developments and changes in laws and regulations affecting the business
• Providing support on the drafting of responses to relevant regulatory consultations
• Provide training to staff on legal matters (as appropriate)

Requirements:

• A qualified lawyer with at least 10+ years of experience in a legal role, with a focus on financial services
• Experience working in financial market infrastructure or other fintech company is highly desirable
• Excellent knowledge of financial services regulations, particularly those related to derivatives trading
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize competing demands
• Experience managing external legal counsel
• Experience in negotiating and documenting complex commercial contracts
