The Role:
As Damp and Mould Manager with our Housing Services you can make your own powerful contribution to Westminster’s success. Leading and developing a dedicated and high performing team, you’ll be using all your expert knowledge of the root causes of damp, mould and condensation, as well as the principles of maintaining buildings and diagnosing defects, and the required standards of materials and workmanship. With a well developed understanding of building services and the regulatory framework that applies to the use of gas, water and electricity in domestic buildings, the safety and comfort of our residents will be your top priority, and the driving force behind everything you do.
Working closely with local contractors, you’ll encourage them to deliver high quality, best value work, and deliver projects on time and within budget. It goes without saying that you’ll have a strong focus on ensuring the health and safety of all our residents, staff and on-site teams, and you’ll be expected to support everyone who works with us with good general knowledge of the regulatory framework of the industry.
When it comes to meeting and monitoring our financial targets, you’ll be ready to develop robust systems of control – these should also be capable of highlighting any potential risks so that appropriate actions can be taken. We’ll also expect you to devise ways to identify opportunities for packaging work or planned maintenance programmes, and your commercially minded outlook will see you attracting project finance and driving the successful delivery of projects. And as an inspirational coach and leader, you’ll provide motivating direction to your team, role modelling a culture that encourages positive engagement and the development of rewarding partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Please refer to the Job Description for more information.
About You:
With well developed experience of managing contracts for the provision of damp and mould related repairs, renewals and maintenance in residential buildings, you’ll possess the skills to diagnose defects and plan the specification of remedial works. It’s important that you have deep knowledge of procurement and supplier relationship management, and the confidence to instruct and brief professional specialists to carry out surveys and write reports that outline the scope of works planned for more complex and high-risk projects.
Capable of managing inspection systems for a large portfolio of residential property, and of supervising the quality control of completed works, we’ll expect you to analyse complex data to manage performance, and investigate and respond to any complaints you receive. You should also possess strong resource management skills gained in a multi-disciplinary environment, and have a successful track record of business planning and handling large budgets.
With good knowledge of the many issues facing local government, you’ll have a thorough understanding of your statutory responsibilities and the legal, financial and political context of public sector management. Passionate about delivering constructive change and taking the services we provide to the next level of excellence, you’ll also be committed to the principles of equity and diversity, while your innovative and creative mindset will see you devising pragmatic solutions to any problems you or your team face.
