SEN Teacher - Long Ditton

Marchant Recruitment
Kingston upon Thames, Greater London

We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and experienced SEN Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Long Ditton, starting ASAP. This is a highly rewarding opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and making a meaningful difference to their learning and development.

The school has a strong inclusive ethos and a well-established SEN provision, supporting pupils with a range of needs including autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and moderate learning difficulties. Staff work collaboratively within a nurturing and structured environment, supported by an approachable and experienced leadership team that values professional development and staff wellbeing.

As an SEN Teacher, you will work closely with the SENCO, teaching assistants, class teachers, and external professionals to deliver high-quality, personalised learning programmes. You may work with pupils individually, in small groups, or within a specialist provision, ensuring learning is adapted to meet each child’s needs and abilities. You will play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, independence, and essential academic and life skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons for pupils with SEN

  • Develop and implement personalised learning plans, including EHCP targets

  • Assess, monitor, and track pupil progress using appropriate assessment tools

  • Adapt teaching strategies to support a range of learning and behavioural needs

  • Support pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development

  • Work closely with the SENCO to review interventions and progress

  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure consistent support

  • Provide guidance and support to teaching assistants and support staff

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to SEN reviews and meetings

  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)

  • Have proven experience teaching pupils with SEN

  • Have a strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices

  • Be patient, resilient, and empathetic

  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Be proactive, organised, and reflective in practice

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing

The school is located in Long Ditton, with good transport links and a welcoming, supportive community. Staff benefit from a collaborative working culture, strong leadership support, and access to ongoing training and professional development. This is an excellent opportunity for an SEN specialist seeking a long-term role where their expertise and dedication will be truly valued.

How to Apply

Please submit an up-to-date CV outlining your experience and suitability for the role.
