As an Assistant Site Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring site operations run efficiently, while maintaining a strong focus on health and safety, quality control, and team leadership.
About the Role:
You’ll assist in the delivery of allocated projects, driving progress through effective planning, collaboration, and proactive management. With a focus on quality, compliance, and safety, you’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the highest standards. Key responsibilities include monitoring and improving site operations, coordinating subcontractors, maintaining accurate project records, and fostering a culture of excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and uphold a "don’t walk by" culture.
- Maintain rigorous quality control using ISO systems, including detailed updates via SnagR.
- Assist in delivering projects on time, within budget, and to agreed quality standards.
- Monitor and control costs, ensuring works are completed efficiently and first-time fixes are maximised.
- Proactively manage materials and plant requisitions to ensure timely delivery aligned with project needs.
- Engage and consult with contract surveyors, technical coordinators, and other departments to achieve project goals.
- Motivate and manage site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers, addressing challenges collaboratively.
- Provide exceptional customer care information to support a 5-star NHBC rating.
Skills, Experience, and Attributes:
- Level 4 (HNC/NVQ4) or substantial hands-on experience in construction trades.
- Relevant certifications, including SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid, and knowledge of ISO procedures.
- Experience in traditional construction, RC frame, or timber frame projects.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, requisitions, and team performance effectively.
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and construction compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Confident in explaining technical details and fostering collaboration among teams.
